What Was the Last Book You Read? #6

previous thread

I re-read Better than Running at Night by Hillary Frank simply because it rocks, and I learn something new about art every time I read it.

Pure Drivel by Steve Martin. It was one of those books that was made up of random paragraphs and stories- it didn't really make much sense, but I found it amusing. Like this paragraph that came from the middle of nowhere:

Quote:
Sacajawea's Rain Bonnet

Lewis and Clark are admiring Sacajawea's rain bonnet. Lewis, after six months in the wilderness, wants to wear the rain bonnet even when it's not raining. Clark wants Sacajawea to keep wearing it and doesn't want to have to deal with Lewis, who conceivably could put on the bonnet and start prancing. However, an observer looking back from the twenty-first century will find this completely normal.

i think it was...oh yeah! the five people you meet in heaven by mitch albom. i cried throughout the entire book. it's one of the best books in the world. the reasons why he meets the 5 people and how they're related to him (and what each has done to the other) is truly amazing, and inspirational. it's an amazing book.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It's so wonderful. I cried and cried. The characters are real - they're flawed, they do the things that we do - and I can imagine myself doing the exact same thing if I were them. You hurt, laugh and cry along with the characters. It's about life and death and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't already read it.

Dancer by Lorri Hewett which was really good and Dear Mr. Henshaw by Beverley Cleary which wasn't. I used to love her Ramona books

Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Philips. I hadn't read her books in a long time, so I was so happy when I got it from the library. But I think it's kind of stupid. First Lady was so much better.

Last book I've read was the Vinci Code. It is a real intelligent masterpiece. I recommend it!

Murder On The Orient Express by Agatha Christie. It's a fantastc book how she does it is really quite amazing. It only would've been better if my sisters hadn't told me that it was so good that I already had a high standard of the book and so it wasn't that good after all. If you get it, that is

I realised that I read a lot.

I have the bad habit of reading books consecutively so..

I've read them all before, multiple times:

We Have Always Lived In The Castle - Shirley Jackson
Through The Looking Glass - Lewis Carroll
The Thief Of Always - Clive Barker

City of Pearl by Karen Traviss. I really liked the social science fiction aspects of the book. The ecology aspect reminded me of Sheri S. Tepper's books. The hinted at romance never worked out though, so I was disappointed with that.
end I look forward to reading the sequel, which comes out next week. And there will be a third book in the series, which will be released sometime next year.

I just finished with The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan and am now onto Night by Elie Wiesel. In between those two I was reading Blow Fly by Patricia Cornwell. I have a very wide range of interests... Of course the first two I had to read for my English class, I read Patricia Cornwell for fun.
