What is everyone's favorite genre?

It may seem like a weird question, but it just popped into my head recently after a conversation with my friend. He recommended me a fantasy book which I was reluctant to read it at first since, well, it is a fantasy book...Generally i dont like fantasy stories, shows, movies or anything like that...I prefer guns when it comes to action, swords just feel so cheesy to me.

So, it had me thinking, the main genre I love is Sci-fi (was upset when SG:U got canceled), I'll generally watch anything sci-fi and enjoy it no matter how bad or cheesy it is...Which got me thinking, what is your main genre and do you ever deviate from it? The book my friend recommended to me is called Drylor The First Artifact and it is actually the first fantasy thing I actually enjoy, it just feels new to me not some wanna-be-Tolkein author.

So, yeah, I'm curious what genre everyone enjoys the most and have you ever had something like Drylor was for me that was a refreshing change in a genre you don't normally like?

Romance was always my favorite. But now the whole Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, etc is taking over my life.

I also find it interesting that I read mostly YA now but when I was in the YA age range I never read it.

I didn't think I read paranormal when I was a teen but I remember reading the sci fi/fantasy genre when I was around 10ish.

I've read YA for as long as I can remember, and I probably still will when I'm way older than the age range for this series. But who cares, I like what I like

YA Dystopian and YA Sci Fi. I find it hard to get away with anything that isnt YA, unless it's a chick lit or Historical Fiction. I may be older than the heroines and hero's of YA fiction but I find them easier to relate too. That said i'm going to dive into the Fantasy realm soon starting with Sword of Truth series. Im slight nervous at the prospect, it seems like such a heavy series.

I love every genre, romance and YA being my favourite. I can read paranormal/sci-fi/fantasy every genre, and now I cant really read any normal 'human' novels as much, its just doesnt take me in anymore

My favourite is mystery/suspense thrillers. Though I find it very hard to find books that are exactly what I'm looking for in that category. I also enjoy most romance books, but sometimes I get a little bored of them. & I love supernatural books.
