I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. I really love the Southern Vampires series by Charlaine Harris. I recently finished MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series. They were fun stories and a very quick read.

I've been wanting to check out LKH but the first book in the series is always checked out at my library and I'm one of those people that has to read the books in order.

My favorite book ever is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I have yet to read a vampire story that compares (I am known for loving fluff and mush, though )

I like the Dangerous Girls series by RL Stine........Those are really good vampire books, even if they are kind of young

I like Demon in My View by Atwater-Rhodes. She wrote a whole series incorporating witches and shapeshifters too.

I'm a big Anne Rice fan myself. I love the world of vampires. I could get lost in that world everyday...wait, I DO. I write my own little stories and poems about them. Ahh..the world of vampires.

I loved the Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books, In the Forest of the Night, Demon in My View, and Midnight Predator I thought all those books were really good. I also like the Noble Dead series by Barb and J.C. Hendee with a Vampire and an Elf as the main characters. There's Damphir, Thief of Lives, Sister of the Dead and Traitor to the Blood.

I know what you mean. I'm going to try to finish both books I'm reading this week so I can start on some new stuff. There are a hundred books I want to read and with summer classes and work I don't have as much time as I'd like. But I really would recomend the Noble Dead series. The first one is fairly short, should only take you three or four days to read if you have an hour or two each day.

I love Atwater-Rhodes! Her books are amazing. And I could definitely get lost in the world of vampires. I already have They are truly magnificent and beautiful creatures. But I dont like any books or Authors that make them monsters. They can be. But not all of them are. Just like humans. And as a big vampire buff I also dont like when they use something that isnt true. Like Garlic does nothing but smell really bad. If it smells bad to us think how it smells to someone with 6X a dogs sense of smell. And they cant fly but they can float and jump really high. . And not all of them turn into bats. They can turn into the frst animal they chhose after rebirth. Like only stronger vampires can walk in the light. And crosses do nothing. Their hearing is 3X a dog's. Its how they know wear the blood vessels are. They can hear the heart pumping and the blood flowing. So I have a problem with books tht say someone can sneakpast them. Its not possible unless you can stop your heart from pumping. I could go on but I was just saying this bc Atwater Rhodes met my tough standards. And she is truly a wonderful author

A good vampire book I like is The Mamoth Book of Vampire Stories by Women. In every story the vampires are different and thats what makes the whole book great.

I always recommend Those Who Hunt the Night and its sequel, Traveling with the Dead, by Barbara Hambly. Not the typical vampire books in that they are essentially Victorian mysteries and the vampires are not pigeon-holed as the bad guys.

Has anyone read Robin McKinley's Sunshine? It is not new (hardback released in 2003 and paperback in 2004), but I had never seen it before. Since I enjoy other books by this author, I decided to give her attempt at vampire literature a try.
