Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde

Has anyone ever read this series? I believe it's The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book, and Well of Lost Plots. It's very very good, kind of a guilty pleasure for me.

I love this series. I just got the Well of Lost Plots about a week ago. Number 4, Something Rotten, is out already, but not in paperback...

I'm about a third of the way through Well of Lost Plots, it's good.

I'm so bad, I started The Eyre Affair and never finished it. I must have gotten distracted...very interesting concept behind his books, though.

I haven't picked up this series in a long time...Something Rotten is out now on paperback, isn't it? I've got to get that at some point.

they're amazing, it's one of my all time favorite series. And Jasper Fforde is great. I just went to a book signing of his Tuesday night and met him. Picked up a signed copy of his newest The Big Over Easy, the first book in his Nursery Crimes series and it's excellent if anyone is interested. Every bit as good as the Thursday Next ones which I adore.

That's really awesome that you got to meet him. What's the Nursery Crimes series about?

it's about a bunch of detectives in kind of a Sluthe World, trying to out do each other and Detective Jack Spratt of the Nursery Crime Division. If you've read Well of Lost Plots you should be able to draw some lines to Caversham Heights... Mary Mary, Jack, Lola and I'm suddenly forgetting the other one's name are all central characters. The first one is about the death of Humpty Dumpty and i'm like 1/2 way through. And if any of you happen to be in the places he's touring... definately stop in. He's halarious. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from him based on his writing.

I discovered the Thursday Next series a while ago and I just love it.

Currently I'm in the middle of "The Big Over Easy" and I saw in a bookstore there's already a new book out about (Inspector?) Goldilocks, just not in paperback yet.

There's a new one??!! There's a new one *jumps up and down with glee*.

A friend of mine got me hooked on his writing last summer with the Thursday Next series, and I really liked The Big Over Easy.

I love the humour of his books and the really complex references to literature and its concepts.

Now that I know there's another one...my wallet is in deep trouble

Oh, I know. Don't we all wish to have a bigger bookshelf and a good sponsor for books sometimes?

Of course we do.

I love Jasper Fforde and his Thursday Next series myself. It's completely crazy and wonderfully inventive, I can't believe it hasn't gotten more acclaim than it currently has. I found The Big Over Easy not as good as the Thursday Next series, but it's good anyway. I'm glad I found fans - he's too good not to have any.

I know what you mean. There's again the humor and the cool ideas, but there's a little extra... something missing in the Jack Spratt book/s... still... I hope for more books by Jasper Fforde

Yeah, partly because I loved the romance thing between Thursday and Landen. And also the madness that is the Chesire Cat and the rest of BookWorld But, like we agreed on, The Big Over Easy is a fantastic book too, and I can't wait for the next one

Damn that you got to meet Jasper Fforde, Mordacity. Tell us more about the meet! How was he like? Do you have any pictures?

I absolutely love love love Jasper Fforde. I'm saving my pennies for the Fourth Bear. I think what I like about his books is that he chalks the whole thing full of little references and it's like a treasure hunt to see if you know what he's talking about. I hop up like a maniac when I get one of his literary references.
