Welcome to the Lovely Bones Appreciation Thread

The Lovely Bones is a 2002 novel by Alice Sebold.
It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being brutally raped
and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends
go on with their lives, while she herself comes to terms with
her own death. The novel received a great deal of critical praise
and became an instant bestseller.

A film adaptation of the novel is currently in production
and is being directed by Peter Jackson, who personally
purchased the rights.

i just finished reading this like a month ago!
it started out slow but then it got even better...i loved the end!!! =)
this book is really really good and serious but good!!
i wanna read another book by the same author, LUCKY...has anyone read that yet?

I haven't read it yet.

Though I've heard it's good too.

But I adore Lovely Bones, it's one of my fave books ever. I always tear up a little, it's so heartbreaking in many ways.

I’m currently reading this book (just over halfway) & I am absolutely loving it. It really is such an amazing story so far. I can’t wait to see what happens.

I'm known as a classic book snob, but I read everything and was amazed by this book. It stayed with me for weeks. It was a fast read, but I didn't want to race through it. Yes, it was sad, but it's one of those novels you fall into and then when the real world tries to or actually DOES pull you out, you just want to get back to it.

This is genius writing, in my opinion.

I read the Lovely Bones about 3 years ago. It was a great read, so interesting and different than anything I'd read (the way it was set up I mean).

I love Susie's voice and I am interested & curious to see how the movie turns out.

It could be great, okay or fair or terrible. You never know with books turned movies

That was what I loved so, so much about the book. Her voice rang true to me, and she just broke my heart.
