Yeah, I don't think he would have a problem with that. And I wouldn't stop him from reading them just because he might lose himself in them. But in my opinion, they are not suitable for a kid his age. According to my dad, they wouldn't even be suitable for me. He can wait a few more years. I don't even think he could understand them that well now. He has the approximate maturity of a 10 year old.

Yeah, that's true. It's probably not appropiate for someone his age. I'd say 15 or 16. Kids can handle a lot these days.

I think for this generation, there are nothing that can be "right" age since most kids know what's sex and gore bec of the shows/movies they been watching or hearing from the internet.. Shrug..

I see some kids can read it and they aren't not even teens.. I was like how the hell you do it, but it's good to see them able to read it when they have free time..

My brother and I were not raised like that. We were not allowed to watch or read anything we wanted.

That's a shame. I pretty much was, as long as it was age appropiate, but I grew up when the internet barely existed.

I suppose it did mean I grew up more sheltered, but I don't regret it. I think it has developed my discernment and I don't really feel like I missed out on anything.

My mom thought Halloweentown was a scary movie and didn't want me watching it, but she had no issues with me watching Law & Order: SVU, go figure.

Yet she didn't really shelter me with books. When I was nine, I picked up "The Lost Boy" (sequel to "A Child Called It") and asked if I could read it. She said she didn't care. It was definitely heavy material for a nine-year-old to read, but I enjoyed reading it. I wasn't your typical nine-year-old, and my early writings reflect that. I wrote about alcoholics a lot, but both my father and stepfather were alcoholics, so that explains enough.

I was definitely sheltered from anything sexual, though, but that was more so by choice than my mom sheltering. I knew it wasn't appropriate material when I was young, and I was afraid of what would happen if I got caught reading/watching that. I didn't become knowledgeable about that topic until I went to college.

Ahh, interesting since my parents don't care as long we know the difference on what's right or wrong unless if I'm too young to watch, they won't let me..

^Well, of course. That's what my dad did as well. I suppose he was just a little more strict about what was age-appropriate.

My mom didn't necessary let me read whatever I wanted.

When I was 12-13 I loved reading the trashy romance books. Between her and my aunt there were a lot. She would yelled at me every time she saw me reading one. And there was a book I read I believe was called Virgins and she fussed at me because of the title.

Although I can't remember what it was but it was one of those Harlequin type series books that my aunt let me read. In this series it was 50 one featured in each state and they didn't have any smut just romance.

From I growing up, I always use the cover to switch it around, so that way my brothers or my mother notice what I'm reading..

I was really never interested in smut. And when it came to books, the only one my dad ever stopped me... well, I didn't have any particular desire to read it, but I'm sure he would have objected, was the Harry Potter series. Because he has this thing with witchcraft. He would have never bought me those books, but I received them as gifts and he didn't stop me from reading them.

It wasn't the smut I was interested in, it was the romance.

I wasn't interested in that either.
