I think he was witten to be different than the other guys, he's a a vampie for one thng, and that what drew her to Edward, how different he was. Atleast that's how I saw it.

"...You are the only one who has ever touched my heart..."

Really? I find it very unbelievable that in all of those years he's been alive (again, I couldn't think of a better way to phrase it) he hasn't been in love with any other girl but Bella.

I like when Edward speaks that way, because coming from him it sounds genuine. Now if someone who was born in 1990 spoke that way, I would find it to be fake and annoying.

I love the way Edward speaks too. It may be sappy, but it kind of suits him, and his time, and he hasn't changed.

But speaking of the way people talk, does it bother anyone else when Jacob calls Bella "honey"? I notice it everytime he does, and it just feels off. The way he says it just reminds of the way say Charlie would say honey, rather than a boyfriend type. lol.

Thanks for the recs guys. I know of the comms that exist, i just couldn't go through everything there to find something good so I was looking for specific fic. I pretty much like anything as long as its well written.

Well Stephenie confirmed that Bella is the first girl he has ever been in love with. According to Stephenie when the vampires fall in love there is no going back they will be in love for an eternity. If Edward fell in love with some other girl he wouldn't be spending so much time with Bella, and his family wouldn't be telling Bella about how he happy he's became since Bella has come into his life.

Yes for humans it does seem incredulous, and for our world it seems downright insane. Edward wouldn't let himself get closer to any girl, because he could read their thoughts and I'm sure they all went along the lines of "Ooh he is so unbelievably gorgeous. Hmm I wonder how big his is..." See what I mean, if I had to deal with that and I was a vampire I would be a hundred and six year old virgin too. Then Bella comes along the only person in the world whose mind he can't read. This causes him to actually get to know her, so he became vulnerable to falling in love with her. Stephenie has also said in the PCs over at Twilight Lexicon once the vampires fall in love or love someone they love them for an eternity. There's no going back if Edward fell in love with someone else then his family wouldn't be going on about how much of a difference they have seen in him seen Bella came into his life. He wouldn't have even shown an interest with Bella. Yes even if he had a past lover that was destroyed like Marcus's wife, because Marcus even after all those hundreds or thousands of years hasn't found anyone else yet - the love he has for his wife never went away and will never die down. In conclusion, I find it to be very possible. This is a romance/fantasy book, it's not going to be realistic.

I got to the 3rd chapter last night. Obviously, that's not a whole lot, but I like it so far. I like Meyer's writing style and that makes it a fairly easy read, which is a change from the classic, Early-American literature I've been reading for school. I'm sure I'll be reading more today.

I'm glad to see someone with a positive comment on Stephenie's writing style. I've seen quite a few people say her writing is like really bad fanfiction, but I don't see it that way at all. Yes, it's simple, but it paints a very vivid picture in my imagination. So, I guess it works for me.

I love Stephenie's writing style, and if they want really bad fanfiction then I can point them in the direction of really bad fanfiction.

People just like to bitch. They like hearing the sound of their own voice or reading the own words across the screen.

I love Stephenie's writing style as well, she really goes easy & yet very original, like I read a lot of Nicholas Sparks books, & his books to me are more modernized writing, but when I read Stephenie's writing it takes me back to the old days with some of the words she uses. Like in Rosalie's chapter, man everytime I read that chapter I find myself picturing her stoy so vividly, like a fairly take as Bella describes it... & the same with Jasper, except I wasn't seeing a failry tale, but she is very discriptive & unique, thats what I really like about her writing.

I wish I could write like Stephenie, but I'm not that articulate.

It is indeed simple, but she's writing from the perspective of a seventeen year old girl. I highly doubt that she would sound like Thoreau or Tolstoy. To be honest though, even though it's simple, I like it. I mean, I always found Hemingway's style of writing to be very sparse and simple but he's a staple of American literature.
I like it. I'm about 150 pages in and I like the relationship between Edward and Bella. They haven't gotten to anything romantic yet, she's still entertaining (and generally dismissing) the idea that he is a vampire. I like that awkwardness that's going on right now, because no one's really as smooth as they always write, so when Bella drops her books when she storms out of class it's cute, because I can so see myself doing that, lol.
And Edward sounds gorgeous. I want one of him to put in my pocket.

I didn't see this thread. I commented on the previous thread.. sorry...

Anyway, this is what I said

----------

Hi guys! I just wanted to share... I just came back from our Christmas party and someone gave me TWILIGHT (the first book.) I am so excited to read it!

I have no idea what it is all about except for the main plot which is a teenage girl falling in love with a vampire. This interests me so much.

I'll come back to this thread once I finished reading it! I am so excited!Maybe this is the next series I'll be addicted to after Potter... :p
