I figured I'd be a dork and start a new post to explain my absolute UNDYING love for these novels. Admittenly, it took me some time to get into Twilight when I first read it, but once I got more into the story (and more into Edward), I couldn't put it down. These have now become books I read when I need an escape from reality or I'm feeling blue. They always make me feel better.

As an aspiring writer, Meyer has been such an inspiration. I think she's clearly become my favorite author. At least, for young adult fiction, so far!

I have yet to read this book, actually I have yet to buy it. I've seen it and had it in my hands many time to purchase but I just never did.

Great opening post about the series. Stephanie's web page and Twilight Lexicon hold a lot of information about the fictional world that Stephanie Meyer has created.

Twilight, for me, was one of those rare books that you come across that just reminds me of why I read in the first place. I love the relationship between Bella and Edward and the whole world that Stephanie Meyer has created.

I highly recommend Twilight and New Moon for anyone who hasn't read them.

igloo- Agreed. When I read this series, it also reminds me why I want to be a writer. So few people can express characters the way Meyer does. Especially for books aimed at a young adult audience. I think these are the most splendid books! My co-worker is finishing up New Moon now and she loves them. I told her she would.

I can't wait until August!!

Twilight is my favorite book of all time. I read it so many times that I've lost count. I'm so waiting patiently for Eclipse.

I am totally in love with Edward. Its seems so foolish to be in love with a fictional character but I don't care. I have a soft spot for Jacob though. As long as he doesn't interfere with Edward&Bella, I always will.

Twilight is probably my favorite book ever, too. My coworker just finished New Moon today and we were discussing how much of a fantastic writer SM is.

I, too, am waiting for Eclipse. A little less patiently, I think. I'm gonna have to reread the first two so I remember what's going on when I read Eclipse.

I hope this series never ends!

I just finished Twilight tonight, and I'm so glad that this thread is here. It is so great to see that other people have such passion for the characters. Bella and Edward's love...it's so beautiful. It's a once in a lifetime kind of love. And yes, I too am smitten by Edward. It's hard not to be! Lol. He's...perfect in the way he looks and acts. Okay, so vampire. Bella can work around it, so can we

Welcome cryurname! I'm currently re-reading Twilight (for the third time, I believe) and I'm so infatuated with it. Edward is absolutely dreamy, isn't he!? Are you planning on starting New Moon any time soon?

Yeah, I've already started it. Lol. I started reading Twilight and it was so good I knew I had to have the sequel on hand as soon as I finished it.

And thanks for the welcome

I'm currently re-reading Twilight (Did I say that already!?)

But I was wondering as I'm reading it...I don't know if you guys know that MTV bought the claim to buy the rights to Twilight to make it into a movie. And a lot of fans are hoping they don't so they don't ruin the magic of the book, but...

What scenes do you think they would cut/keep if they made Twilight into a film?

Twilight and New Moon are always on my nightstand. i often find myself picking up either book just to read my favorite parts.

They would have to keep that whole him saving her from being crushed by the car. Unless, they have some other way for her to start speculating about Edward, which would be totally ridiculous. The whole Port Angeles chapter was important so they better have that, too. If they don't have the meadow live up to what it is, I might just go crazy.

The book is perfect the way it is. I don't know why they would even want to cut out any of it. I'd just be weird. I could totally picture myself at the theaters and screaming "Hey, that didn't happen in the book."

I'm jumping ahead. I could totally love the movie and be like "I could see that happening" Who knows?

As I'm reading it, I'm thinking of what they'd need to keep and cut. And so far, you've got everything I agree with! I think they'd probably cut a lot of the school stuff, and her with out boys asking her. I think the focus would be James hunting her, so that'd be important (I'm not there yet so I'm not sure could be cut). Argh. So much good stuff! This is almost why I'd hate if they made it into a movie.

If they did have James trying to kill Bella be the main plot would there be enough Edward and Bella time? Most of the book was about them. The whole James thing only took up like 5-6 chapters. Obviously, I'm being selfish and all I care about is the Bella and Edward storyline.
