I've realised most of my standalone books I tend to read are within the thriller/crime/mystery category

The book I'm reading now - 1984 by George Orwell - is a standalone. I wish it wasn't so it could get a happier ending.

Do you have your own idea of a sequel that can turn out happy?

Down with Big Brother, for sure. I don't want to spoil it for you but prepare to be angry.

The latest standalone that I read and really loved was a YA: With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo.

Sounds sad.
I thought I told you to find a happy book. |

It's so hard to find a happy book. I didn't go too deeply into my piles.
Maybe it'll be a bitter sweet book. __________________

The print looks pretty big and it's under 400 pages so
