| I think I'm gonna have to go search for it. Always happy to find new shows. __________________ If my heart could beat it would break my chest | |||

| Passionate Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just bought Moonshine by Rob Thurman, the sequel to Nightlife. Both are really good books if anyone likes more fairytale, modern setting, horror-esque, tongue-in-cheek writing. They're really funny and surprisingly well written. So anyway, you might want to check them out if you get the chance. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! | Passionate Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm trying to find some good fantasy. It's been a long time since I've read anything really good. I think the last I read was by J.V. Jones in her The Book of Words trilogy. I like a little bit of anything, so any recommendations are appreciated. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! | Passionate Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I totally understand, early mornings are a beast. I have a 9am class today and it's horrible. But the weather's finally getting nice here so I took advantage of the day. Anyway, I'll check it out. Thanks for the recommendation. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! | Hmm, fantasy recommendations. For historical fantasy, Lois McMaster Bujold is at the top of my list, but I also recommend Sharon Shinn, Mercedes Lackey, and Tanya Huff. I don't read much contemporary/urban fantasy, but I love Clive Barker and Neil Gaiman's style of UF. I'm still reading First Rider's Call. Between this book being doorstopper length, being busy with making birthday gifts and getting my apartment ready for an inspection, and weeding out my romance books, I just haven't been able to finish it yet. I'd like to finish it by Tuesday though so I can read Ally by Karen Traviss as soon as it comes out (if I can manage to get it because her last book was a nightmare to get my hands on). | |||

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | LOL I was coming back to recommend Lois McMaster Bujold's fantasy. I've only read two but really enjoyed them: Paladin of Souls and Beguilement: the Sharing Knife (or it might be the other way around). I'm still in the middle of First Rider's Call, as well as The Scar, Sister to the Rain, and the first Dresden book. They're all good but it's slow going when I'm spreading my reading time around. I get the feeling I'll finish First Rider's Call this weekend since I read that at work and I can actually read for more than a few minutes at a time. | |||

| I put the second volume of The Sharing Knife on reserve at the library this week and OMG, I'm number one on the list! Now I just have to wait and try to be patient for it to come out (unless I win an ARC of it). All I want to do is read lately and it sucks not being able to read all day long. But I have 7 hours worth of VH1 Classic shows coming up in the next few days that I read to (I record The Alternative and We Are the 80's on my TiVo, then I read while I listen to them), so I hope I can finish First Rider's Call while multi-tasking. ![]() | |||

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I love those VH1 shows. I just finished watching my recordings of I love the 90s. I finished First Rider's Call yesterday. It was better than the first one, in my opinion. I still can't believe that I didn't know it was out already. Geeze. I'm starting a dark fantasy/romance by Eileen Wilks called Mortal Danger. All the books I'm in the middle of are starting to really pick up so I think I'll finish Sister To the Rain sometime today. It's a good thing I've already read The Scar or I'd be trying to finish that one off as well. I've been wanting to reread Beguilement. Something in another book reminded me of it. | |||

| Passionate Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I finished The Clone Republic by Steven L. Kent this morning at about 3:30am. It was a pretty good book. Not great, not bad. It had some action but not a huge amount, which I was surprised by. Three pages of action would be preceded by twenty pages of preparation for the battle and followed by thirty pages of character response to the battle. But the characters were good and there was a pretty interesting plot twist so if anyone's looking for a fairly quick military science fiction read you should check it out. It has a sequel but I don't know if I'm going to get it or not. Now I'm debating on what to read next. Back to the bookshelves. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! I'm actually looking for the previous book to Sister to the Rain. I'm also going to start book 3 of the Dresden Files. I hate that my library doesn't have the whole series. It's so random. | |||

| I finally finished First Rider's Call. I don't do well with doorstopper sized books like this and I found it very frustrating that after spending all that time reading it, there was very little resolution to anything (unlike in the first book). The romantic sub-plot reminded me of Shattered Dance by Caitlin Brennan and if this series goes in the same direction, I won't be continuing it, Spoiler:
Now I'm reading Ally by Karen Traviss- one of my two most highly anticipated books of the year (the other being TSK: Legacy by Bujold). | |||
