Have you read the sequel too? The third book is finally coming out later this year.Shadows of Myth was alright, but it got really repetitious and I know it's a trilogy but I would have liked a few more questions answered in book one. I'm also less than thrilled with most of the female characters in the Lunas. Sure they are the focus of the books, but it doesn't mean they are particularly empowered and I like kick-butt heroines.

There are very few authors that write really great trilogies where every book is good. Usually the middle book drags a bit.

I've noticed that too. Even one of my all-time favorite trilogies, Lackey's Last Herald Mage, kind of sags in book two. I'm reading One Good Knight now and I like it, but one thing I don't like about this series is that Lackey tries a bit too hard with the romantic sub-plots. She has called this series romance not romantic fantasy and she's thrown in some romance cliches and the love scenes didn't quite fit in with the rest of the books. Has anyone else read anything by Tanya Huff? I'm going to start her Quarters series soon and her vampire series is being turned into a Lifetime series (which not so coincidentally will air after Dresden Files on Sunday nights, so if you have TiVo, a VCR, or aren't a fan of Battlestar Galactica, you can switch from one urban fantasy show based on books to another).

I haven't been able to read anything but school assignments recently so I'm looking forward to spring break so I can finally read something good and I don't have to analyze it for theme, plotting elements, and characterization. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! | That was one of the things I hated about college, I could never read what I wanted to then when I got a break, I was so exhausted and burnt out that I used the break to recharge my batteries. I was also a writing tutor and it would take a while to get out of the proofreading mindset so I'd notice every little error in books and it got to be really annoying! One Good Knight was cute. Lackey's Luna series is definitely comfort reading for me and it's nice to see her write something that isn't loaded with angst, for once. Now I'm reading one of the Roswell High books. I bought it when I was watching the show, then forgot I had it (probably because I started to hate the show and didn't want any reminders of it). It's wishlisted on one of the trade sites, so I decided to read it now since it's so short and if I don't like it, I can pass it along to someone who wants it.

So I had time to read for pleasure during school. Editing to say: I picked up and finished Hexwood by Diana Wynn Jones. It's a sci-fi book. I enjoyed it more than I did her fantasies excluding Howl's Moving Castle. Now I'm back to the 4 books I was reading before. | I hated the Roswell High book. ![]() Now I'm reading Sing the Four Quarters by Tanya Huff and I love it. I've read a lot of SFF by lesbian authors now and I love how gay and lesbian themes and feminist issues are presented as no big deal in this book and books by Melissa Scott, Lyda Morehouse, Elizabeth A. Lynn, etc. I've read one short story or novella by Diana Wynne Jones and it was so good that I want to read her novels.

| I've been in this major Next Gen mood lately. I've been downloading episodes and watching the movies so I decided to start reading some of the books. My Bf as a lot of the earlier ones. Not a huge fan of how that have Data portrayed though. If any you guys have read them you'll understand what I mean. He's too human like. They give him to much personality. __________________ If my heart could beat it would break my chest | |||

| Angel, yeah, good point. At least I didn't buy the whole series. ![]() Frozeninside, I've only read one Star Trek book- a crossover of the original and TNG series, but I'd like to read more, especially since I'm currently ODing on two Star Trek shows (Voyager and Enterprise). | |||

Then again, I've just gotten started but the first major battle scene seems to be really good and character development is OK. He also has a sequel to the book that came out a short time ago but I can't remember the title. If you're interested you can look it up on Amazon. __________________ Come stop by the Books Board for a visit. 148.94 million square kilometers on the face of the Earth, and I plan on walking every single one of them! | I finished Sing the Four Quarters by Tanya Huff and it was awesome! I also watched Blood Ties last night and I can guarantee that I will be reading that series by Huff as well. Now I'm reading First Rider's Call by Kristen Britain.
