| Rolling Stone book banned in the UK I just read a new book titled Brian Jones Straight from the Heart by Gloria Shepherd which has just been published on the subject of Brian Jones and his band, the Rolling Stones. This book is unique in that it is comprised mainly of direct quotes made by Brian, himself, after officially separating from the band he created. Apparently it hits too close to home for the Stone's organization. All of a sudden the book has been banned from stores in the UK as well as Amazon.co.uk.It is still available on Amazon in the US and has been #1 in the Brian Jones categories. This book is vintage Brian in that in his own words he is portrayed as extremely edgy and far ahead of his time in innovative musical accomplishments, his androgynous fashion sense, and his candid use of his bi-sexuality and sexuality in general to achieve his goals. This book not only pushes the envelope with its truthfulness, but also tosses it directly into the reader’s face! The illustrations are also top notch. | Brian Jones Straight From the Heart I finished reading Brian Jones Straight from the Heart last night and I can tell you I have never read a book that was so intense. Thank goodness it is still available in the states on Amazon. It's hard to imagine the things that went on when the Rolling Stones were in their infancy. The ending really startled me as well. I never thought anyone was capable of doing the things they did to Brian. It has changed the way I look at the Stones from now on. ![]() | |||
