| A Prayer for Owen Meany I read this the first time in my senior year of high school. It was a required book for AP English. I'm no longer in high school, but I decided to pick up this book and reread it. IMO, it's one of John Irving's best work. Owen Meany and John Wheelwright are such intriging and well thought out characters. Thoughts? __________________ Go Blue! | I read it in AP English as well--though it was more of an end of the year book that we read for fun (ap exams were done with). I remember really enjoying that book. I loved how John would rant about America--he reminded me of myself in a lot of ways. I'm having trouble remembering the details--it's been years since I read it. I always meant to pick up another Irving novel, but I never did. The World According to Garp looks interesting. __________________ "I think that only stupid people ever have good relationships." | I loved Owen Meany -- I would consider it among my favorite books, actually. Otherwise, I think John Irving is just absolutely bizarre...I had to stop reading Garp after it just got to be too damn disgusting for my taste. | |||
