I agree with The Hunger Games

I like the first book, the second was okay, and well, I've voiced my opinion about the third one in THG thread.

Another one is 50 Shades. I think the content is what peaks people's curiosity more so than the writing itself. The writing itself is pretty awful. Then again, I've only read half of the first book and rolled my eyes through the entire time. I might try reading it again one day. Right now, I have no urge to nor do I care if I see the movie.

Also anything by James Patterson. His writing isn't anything spectacular, in my opinion. I did like the first book in the Women's Murder Club series, but I tried reading his more famous series, the Alex Cross series, and I thought it was pretty mediocre writing. I didn't understand all the fuss about it.

LOL surprised about The Hunger Games. Though to be fair I hadn't been able to read them until they came out because I don't read YA but I had to finally read them

For me in terms of overrated books I'd have to say 50 Shades & The Fault in Our Stars.

This is it for me. All I want is an honest acknowledgement of the writing. I understand wanting to read for titillation, but just own up to it. The writing is simply awful. So have fun with the book, but just stop saying it's well written because it's insulting to the people who are struggling to actually improve their writing.
