The Official Book Board Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Thread

Alright everyone, the end is upon us...The end of the most successful book series in the world that is. And with the release of the 7th book tonight at midnight we're all a little worried about spoilers, spilled potions, and jelly-leg jinxes. But, hopefully here you can be safe from all of that. Please, feel free here to post anything about your reactions to the book, ie. I loved it/hated it, or it's currently flying out my window, or I'm sobbing uncontrollably. Or things that aren't spoilers, ie. Harry developed into such a great character in this book, or, I'm glad Ron/Hermione/ Hagrid had a bigger role in this book. They're just awesome.
Here are the "don't post unless you warn about spolier" rules
1. No Deaths! We know, J.K. told us, that two main characters are supposed to die. But we don't want to know who, ok. We want to find out ourselves.
2. No Relationships! Will it be Harry and Hermione, Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny, Ron and Professor Sprout...Who knows? But we don't want to know until we can read the part ourself.
3. Main Plot Points! Don't tell us if Snape and Malfloy are good or bad, don't give away the remaining horcruxes and please don't tell us about minor character involvement. It's fine saying, I'm glad Tonks became a larger character in this book, but please do not say, OMG, I can't believe she killed that huge, giant talking orange, the fifth horcrux....no, no, no.

If you do want to do any of these things then please put spoiler tags around your writing (they look like this [sp][/sp*]) without the * and the look like this
Spoiler:
hehehe, I'm not telling you anything
around text.

These rules are in place until the 4th of August as per the orders of Jerry, our fan forum admin but we can do with them as we like and extend that date if you want to.
So please, enjoy your last journey to Hogwarts. I'll see you at the end of term banquet.

I think the book wraps it up nicely. The epilogue was a bit unncessary, but I guess we can let JK Rowling have her moment of sentimentality. After all they'd been through so much... eh, I've blabbed on the Harry Potter board already so I don't have much to say here but I think she did everything pretty much perfectly.

Well, I thought about taking my time, putting it down and relaxing and reading it over a few days. Here I am, twelve hours later, having just finished it. That has to be the saddest book I've ever read, and not because the content is necessarily sad, but because the journey's over. I'm going to go mope for a little while. By the way, loved the book though. I thought the end was perhaps a little cliche but to be honest, I thought it was the perfect way to end the series.

The book was brilliant! i just loved it, it was amazing end to a fantastic series
i agree with the Angel about the epilogue though, it was nice to see what happened after the battle but i agree that it was cliched. And i thought JKR said there was only two main character to die, the book was a bloodbath!

You're telling me.

Spoiler:
I hated Lupin and Tonks dying but at least they died together. I was really worried when he ran out on her but it's a good thing Harry sent him back. And poor Dobby, but at least he died free. I was worried there for a bit about Harry, I guessed he was the last Horecrux when the previous book ended but I thought they really were going to kill him off.

All in all, wonderful book. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Spoiler:
If Lupin and Tonks died, who raised Teddy? I was kinda hoping it would be Harry, but they made no mention of it. Being an Auror, I was upset about the Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione ending, but not as upset as I thought I would be. I'm glad that I learned that Snape was in fact good, and it closed everything well. I hope Albus or James hooks up with Rose in the future

Exactly, thats what i was thinking and i was really worried for a while when he saw DD saying he had to die in Snapes memory which was an amazing chapter! Snape and Lily - i loved that! I also love Kreacher, it was so funny the way he did a complete 360 in attitude! i felt so bad for Teddy Lupin, it reminded me of Harry as an orphaned baby I'm not a cryer but i cried when Harry used the ressurection stone and told Lupin he was sorry he'd never get to see his son grow up

I'm reading it for the second time now!

that part was sad, with Lupin. It was great seeing Harry getting to see all the loved ones that have passed

Okay, I had a massive rant about this book on another board, so I won't go as far as that But I finished the book within a matter of hours, I love it so much! And my favourite and least favourite aprts were:

Spoiler:

Faves:
*Lupin and Tonks got married!!!
*Hagrid didn't die
*The detail she went into about everything - explaining about Harry having to die but how he came back etc
*Dumbledore's part in it
*Snape throughout the book - total literary genius!

Least Faves:
*Hedwig dying
*Fred dying!!
*Tonks and Lupin dying!!
*The epilogue. I know after everything it's meant to represent the whole bittersweetness of the plot, but really, after a whole novle about death and misery and intense emotion, I found it a bit patronising that she did the whole happily ever after thing. Not as original as I would've liked.

However, I agree that I was really glad Tonks and Lupin were at least together, although I was soooo sad when I found out they were dead!! Poor Teddy And I felt cheated that we didn't get to see their wedding, although that could just be because they were two of my favourite characters
