The Official Book Board Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Thread

Alright everyone, the end is upon us...The end of the most successful book series in the world that is. And with the release of the 7th book tonight at midnight we're all a little worried about spoilers, spilled potions, and jelly-leg jinxes. But, hopefully here you can be safe from all of that. Please, feel free here to post anything about your reactions to the book, ie. I loved it/hated it, or it's currently flying out my window, or I'm sobbing uncontrollably. Or things that aren't spoilers, ie. Harry developed into such a great character in this book, or, I'm glad Ron/Hermione/ Hagrid had a bigger role in this book. They're just awesome.
Here are the "don't post unless you warn about spolier" rules
1. No Deaths! We know, J.K. told us, that two main characters are supposed to die. But we don't want to know who, ok. We want to find out ourselves.
2. No Relationships! Will it be Harry and Hermione, Ron and Hermione, Harry and Ginny, Ron and Professor Sprout...Who knows? But we don't want to know until we can read the part ourself.
3. Main Plot Points! Don't tell us if Snape and Malfloy are good or bad, don't give away the remaining horcruxes and please don't tell us about minor character involvement. It's fine saying, I'm glad Tonks became a larger character in this book, but please do not say, OMG, I can't believe she killed that huge, giant talking orange, the fifth horcrux....no, no, no.

If you do want to do any of these things then please put spoiler tags around your writing (they look like this [sp][/sp*]) without the * and the look like this
Spoiler:
around text.

These rules are in place until the 4th of August as per the orders of Jerry, our fan forum admin but we can do with them as we like and extend that date if you want to.
So please, enjoy your last journey to Hogwarts. I'll see you at the end of term banquet.

I think the book wraps it up nicely. The epilogue was a bit unncessary, but I guess we can let JK Rowling have her moment of sentimentality. After all they'd been through so much... eh, I've blabbed on the Harry Potter board already so I don't have much to say here but I think she did everything pretty much perfectly. :)

Well, I would just like to say I loved it! The start was pretty good, but the end was jsut unbelievable! JK did an awesome job. ^^

The two of you haven't gotten it yet? :( that sucks. I hope you guys get it soon, especially you Angel - it's got to be read!

TheAngel 07-21-2007 02:09 PM

I just got mine about three hours ago and am right around page 200. So far I'm really, really liking it. Can't wait to finish it. I'll be up all night. :)

Well, I thought about taking my time, putting it down and relaxing and reading it over a few days. Here I am, twelve hours later, having just finished it. That has to be the saddest book I've ever read, and not because the content is necessarily sad, but because the journey's over. I'm going to go mope for a little while. By the way, loved the book though. I thought the end was perhaps a little cliche but to be honest, I thought it was the perfect way to end the series.

The book was brilliant! i just loved it, it was amazing end to a fantastic series
i agree with the Angel about the epilogue though, it was nice to see what happened after the battle but i agree that it was cliched. And i thought JKR said there was only two main character to die, the book was a bloodbath!

Okay, I had a massive rant about this book on another board, so I won't go as far as that  But I finished the book within a matter of hours, I love it so much! And my favourite and least favourite aprts were:
