They change bits and pieces of the parts in the HP movies and some of it can be confusing, especially POA, which if you haven't read the book beforehand, you really don't know what was happening.

There are so much stuffs in the books that it's really impossible they could include all of them in one movie though.

No idea about LOTR bec I never read the books....but the movies are awesome. Some words in the books are hard to understand esp if your first language isn't english
