I feel bad for Nobu-san, like I wish there had been another way to get Sayuri and the Chairman together.
One thing that got me though is no matter how young Sayuri was, In a way she seemed to act so much younger. All her crazy plans and stuff, in my opinion she never really seemed like an adult to me.
I still feel sad that she never seen her sister again,

But I liked the movie aswell as the book, I read the book first. I think the way the movie ended, I liked it and seemed ideal for the movie.

Awesome, everyone!

I'll pick up a copy of the book in the next few days, and set a schedule up. Just so that we don't spoil people too soon by talking about too far into the book before everyone has had chance to keep up.

I saw the movie a while back, so I'm looking forward to reading the book, and seeing how it's the same/different

That was actually how I read Memoirs of a Geisha for the first time when I was younger. My parents were in a book club, read the book, and I read it after them because they liked it so much. I would join but I'm not at home, won't be for the next month, and don't really have access to the novel. I'm taking classes in London and most of my time spent reading is for class. Maybe some other time though. I'll read it again someday soon.

I first read it for a book club too, albeit a book club that never actually met to talk about the book (long story). Anyway, I'm looking forward to the discussion. I remember getting pretty engrossed in the book when I originally read it, so it should be fun to revisit it and discuss it.
