Marion Zimmer Bradley

I used the search feature on the bottom of the main page, and didn't come up with a topic dedicated to the lovely Marion Zimmer Bradley. If I somehow missed it, then I apologize for the duplicate.

Any other fans out there? Which books have you read? What do you like about them?

Discuss!

My favourite is The Mists of Avalon. Love the perspective, and how it is Morgaine telling the story.

Unfortunately, I haven't really liked the Marion Zimmer Bradley books I've read, but I've heard such great things about some of the Darkover books that I've bought quite a few of them.

I have yet to read the Darkover ones, those are on my 'I need to read list - someday'.

I have to admit to loving Mists as well.

Morgaine was an excellent character. I found I looked up to her a lot.

The slash was good too.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

After having read The Mists of Avalon, whenever I see references to the mythology of the knights of the round table, or any other legend attached to the mythology I always have Morgaine's perspective from the book in my head.

I just finished "Mists of Avalon" and I can't wait to get more of her books! I loved the new spin on the Arthur tale. I really liked how she handled the ideas of right and wrong and man made religion verses nature. I couldn't put it down!

Is the rest of the series as good? Or should I read one of her other books first?

I loved her Mists of Avalon. It was interesting to see another side of the Arthurian legend, although I have to admit that I actually cringed at first at the thought that someone could touch the myth.

My first book by her wasn't the MOA, though, but a book that told the story of Mozart's "The Enchanted Flute". I don't remember the English title of that book, but it seems that it's her most unknown one.

I don't think I have even heard of that book. Now I need to look for it.

k46 - I think The Mists of Avalon is the best book in that specific series. The others I've read in that series are good, but not quite as great as TMoA. But I think you should read them anyhow.

I absolutely love her books When I was 11 I "found" one of her books in my mum´s bookshelf, The Mists of Avalon. That was the time when I began to love her books. So I immediately read The Forests of Avalon,Priestess of Avalon,Firebrand,Ladies of the Lake,Ghostlight...so on and so on I´m addicted O:-)

I went book surfing on one of my favourite internet book stores yesterday, just to look for books by her. But I had to stop myself rather quickly, or I would've placed a big order. I only own The Mists of Avalon, the others I've read I borrowed from the library. Can't afford to buy more at the moment, unfortunately.

I wote an ultra-condensed version of her books for Book-A-Minute.

Actually, based on the two Bradley books I've read, I quite agree with you.
