James Patterson's books

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted much here yet, because I didn't have much time to read the last few weeks, due to my exam paper which I finally handed in!
So I read 1st to die by James Petterson a few days ago (currently I'm reading a book by Martinez Hewlett), but I already ordered 2nd chance, the second book of the The Women's Murder Club-series...

I enjoyed the first one, but am not sure what to expect of the next one... I would really like to know if anyone has read the Murder Club series or any other book by Patterson (Home | The Official James Patterson Web Site) and what your thoughts are!

I'm excited about reading 2nd chance soon!

I haven't read his Murder Club series but I've read several of his other books. I'm currently reading Cross, the 12th book in his Alex Cross series, and have Double Cross, #13, sitting on the shelf waiting. Obviously I enjoy his work.

I read about the Cross series... will have to look into that once I'm through the Murder Club...

The book I read had a semi-good ending... is that typical for his work? That he doesn't go all the way to a happy ending?

Some have happier endings than others. I think I know what you're talking about because someone on the Women's Murder Club board mentioned something that is different in the television series than the books.

One think I kind of like about his books is that his chapters are short. Usually 2-4 pages so it seems like you're making all kinds of progress each time you pick one up. And it's easy to say, "Just one more chapter and then I'll go to sleep."

yeah and then there are ten just-one-mores
But you are right! I like short chapters!

About the endings: I kinda like what he did in the book I read, because usually these kinda books tend to try to make up for all the bad things that happened in the story by a particularly happy ending (well, jst my experience) and while my heart totally enjoys that my brain tends to get annoyed with that sometimes

And I didn't know there was a special board
Well, if this thread shouldn't be here you can of course delete it

The board is for the television series and they do have a thread for the books. Patterson has written a lot of books other than the Women's Murder Club so I don't see why this thread shouldn't be here. I was surprised one didn't exist previously.

Here's a link to the Women's Murder Club television series board: http://www.fanforum.com/f271/

Thanks and I was surprised there wasn't a thread, too
Well, I almost finished the Martinez book and then I'll start 2nd chance and come back here and tell you what I think I am really excited

A friend just read 1st to Die in a single day. I had told her Patterson's book can be quick reads but she didn't believe me. She does now.

There is a Cross series too? Wow, Patterson sure has been busy
I started watching Women's Murder Club and I really like it though the only character that totally fits my imagination after having read the book is Claire... still like it though

My edition of 2nd chance says he also wrote Maximum Ride

SPOILER if you haven't read 2nd Chance

I just finished 2nd chance and at the same time started watching the series... made things a little difficult for me, cause I usually picture the scenes in my head and that some actors don't fit Patterson's descriptions really didn't help

Well, apart from that, I really enjoyed it
The relationship Lindsay has with her father and the way it develops was amazing. And that little twist, his involvement in the case... that was so well done!

The series had me on my toes with Mercer...with her ex being her boss etc. If that act has anything to do with the books, I thought that he'd either go down because he was on the wrong track with that case (political suicide) or he'd get killed...
That was really sad! Oh, and talking about sad... Jill's baby

I liked that Chimera was the son... even though it wasn't really a surprise by the time they found out. I thought that it couldn't be the father when they came into his motel roo... the way the room was described, it just didn't sound like that well-organized killer

I was happy the ending wasn't as sad as the first book's... and I can't wait to read #3... can't help wondering if her ex is gonna be her new boss like the tv series suggests or whether this is something the TVpeople came up with...

According to Patterson's homepage it's:

1st to die
2nd chance
3rd degree
4th of July
The 5th Horseman
The 6th Target
