J.R. Ward - The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series

I don't know if it is ok to start a thread for this, because of the vampire books thread. I think this series deserves it's own though... It's very good writing, but it's 18+

Black Dagger Brotherhood: Highly-trained vampire warriors who protect their species against the Lessening Society. As a result of selective breeding within the race, Brothers possess immense physical and mental strength as well as rapid healing capabilities. They are not siblings for the most part and are inducted into the Brotherhood upon nomination by the Brothers. Aggressive, self-reliant and secretive by nature, they exist apart from civilians, having little contact with members of the other classes except when they need to feed. They are the subject of legend and the object of reverence within the vampire world.

There are six warrior vampires in the brotherhood. They include:

Wrath: the last purebred vampire on the planet and the vampire race's king. Essentially blind, he is the leader who is not willing to lead until he is forced to care for a half-breed he falls in love with.

Rhage: the strongest of the brothers and the best fighter. Cursed by the Scribe Virgin, he is possessed by a dark side which is a danger to everyone. Ultimately, though, he is gentled by a very special human woman.

Zsadist: the most lethal of the brothers. A former blood slave who was mercilessly tortured during the first hundred years of his life, Z is the one who has fallen farthest from grace. But he is utterly worthy of redemption.

Phury:
the loyal one, the one who sacrifices himself for others. Phury is Zsadist's twin brother and a celibate who cannot truly live because of everything his biological brother has lost. Used to giving rather than receiving, he needs love coming back at him to bring him alive.

Vishous: the most intelligent and the one who is specially gifted. His curse is his ability to prognosticate: he sees the future, though not the 'when' of events so he is tortured by his inability to save those he loves from danger. His love puts him at odds with a secret about himself he did not know and could never have guessed.

Tohrment:
the steady one, the calm one. He is the one whose betrayal by fate will cut the deepest.

Books:
DARK LOVER
LOVER ETERNAL
LOVER AWAKENED
LOVER REVEALED
LOVER UNBOUND
LOVER ENSHRINED
THE BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD: AN INSIDER'S GUIDE
LOVER AVENGED
LOVER MINE - due in April 2010. A book about John and Xhex

New Series by J.R. Ward is The Fallen Angels:
Covet - due out September 29, 2009. In "Covet," there is some BDB cross-over with appearances by Phury and Butch.

Yeah, it's fine to have this one. That's sounds really interesting but I haven't ever read them. I might have to check at the bookstore and see if they have Dark Lover the next time I go out because that sounds pretty neat and really like something that I would like. Thanks for introducing it to the board, otherwise I never would have know about it.

They are very good, you should definitely give it a try.
I've only read the first one, but ordered the second and third as well. I can't wait to get them Each book follows one of the brothers and also a human named Butch whom you'll meet in the first book.

I've read Rhage's but I'm not sure if I should get Zsadist's or Vishous'. Has anybody read those?

I know a friend of mine read Z's book and she loved it! She even thought it was the best of the three she read.
Hope this helps

I had a friend that read one of these books (I didn't even know she had the series) and she loved it. I went to the bookstore this weekend but was on a mission for class and didn't get the chance to look for anything fun for myself so next time I go back I'll have to search for them.

Did you like the first one? What is the title of your second book?

I am reading the latest in the series, Lover Enshrined. It is about Phury. It is still a good book, but it's taking me a long time to get through, because of RL

^ I don't know the title but the cover is black/green, does that help to narrow it down?

I think that is LOVER UNBOUND. It's a great book, it's the fifth book and about Vishous

Yep - I got totally sucked into this series. Hey, did I just make a vampire joke? LOL The first one I read was the one about Zsadist and it is by far my favourite. My least fav was the last one about Phury. It seemed rushed and weaker than the other stories. I was disappointed because I was interesed in Phury's story.

I think I read somewhere that her next one is going to be about Rhevenge. Can't wait!
