The Host by Stephenie Meyer  Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of human hosts while leaving their bodies intact. I always pictured the boy who plays the younger version of Sam on Supernatural. Collin Ford I think his name is. He is probably much older than Jamie was in the book, but that's how I pictured him anyway. I think this kid looks the part though as well.

He isn't a bad actor. I watch him on Good Luck Charlie and I think his acting on there. Although that show is more of comedy it would be interesting to see him how he handles the emotional parts in the Host.

He will have to pull off some heavy emotional scenes. I loved the bond between Jamie and Wanda in the books, probably moreso than his relationship with Melanie.
In some ways, I think this movie should be in two or three parts, the first part showing Melanie and her struggle and ending with her capture and takeover by Wanda. It could showcase the relationship between she and Jared in a way that the book didn't. I really am curious how they will condense that HUGE book into a two hour movie. There is just so much they need to show us I think. It would be difficult to skip parts and still have it be an enjoyable adaptation. __________________

Happy New Year guys!
I haven't seen him in Good Luck Charlie either, but I am sure being an actor he would be able to do a whole range of emotions, and being so young.. but, I doubt they would have not casted him if they weren't positive he could pull it off. |

That fan trailer was AMAZING! I got chills.
It also brought up something interesting. I wonder if Saoirse will be playing a double role. In the book we hear both sides of the conversation inside Wanda/Melanie's head, but it would be hard to translate on screen. In "New Moon", they had Rob Pattinson appear as Edward when in the book Bella only heard him. I think it added to the movie a little and in The Host it would be less confusing. __________________

I figured Saoirse would play Wanda as Melanie and then an illusion of the real Melanie instead of just a voice in her head.

I honestly can't think of another way, and when Wanda gets her own host...she will see... nothing? Yeah I guess. LOL
