The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom

I thought there was a thread for this, but it must have disappeared. Has anyone read The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom? I am reading it right now. What did you think of the book? I think it's pretty good.

it is an AMAZING book. i cried a lot through that book. of course i cried buckets at Tuesdays with Morrie too, but that was because you feel so much for Morrie and you feel Mitch's regret at not getting together earlier.

mitch albom has this ability to make the characters so three-d that you feel for them because you can truly understand and it's as if you're part of the action too. i thought that the 5 people was better than tuesdays because it's a fictitious book unlike tuesdays which was his personal experience and so maybe easier to write. that's my viewpoint.

but honestly i feel so much for eddie. his regrets, his love, his life...everything. i read it nonstop for a few hours and i don't regret it. i only regret not reading it earlier (cos i got it a couple of months ago for my birthday but i had no time).

everyone who hasn't read it so far, if you like inspiring/moving stories, you really ought to.

I loved this book. It's amazing. I cried buckets too. The characters are flawed but you love them anyway. It has a feel-good ending but isn't cheesy, you know? It's a really imaginative book, and I'd recommend it to anyone. It's good. If you liked this book and want to read something similar, you could try The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

The Lovely Bones was a good book, and so was Tuesday's With Morrie. I liked Tuesdays With Morrie and The Lovely Bones better than The Five People You Meet In Heaven.

You should read it!

Hmm. I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinions. But still. I liked The Five People You Meet In Heaven...

The book is beautiful.

I cried, of course...considering I cry at practically everything.

But this book was worth every single tear. =)

I'm going to be reading "Tuesdays With Morrie" in a few weeks for school.

haha i cried buckets too! i cry more at books than movies somehow. i don't know why. weird huh?

tuesdays with morrie for school? wow. that sounds so cool. not like what we do for school..what subject? the most my school did was to say "read tuesdays with morrie, it's a good book" but how many will? and besides, how many school kids actually read these days?

but it'll be a fun read, and great discussion starter. have fuN!

Thanks!

It's for a sexuality class. Since I haven't taken it nor read the book yet, I'm not exactly sure how they tie in together. But I know that every year since the book has been out, the sexuality class has had to read it. Even people who dislike reading are reading it and enjoying it, so I'm sure it's a good thing. Thanks for the positive encouragement.

I'm very anxious to get started now!

just watched the movie on tv, wow that was good, I should be getting the book for christmas, it really was powerful and had some good messages. Espcially touching for people who have lost people and also put your life perspective.

It was a fantastic book. I got it last year for Christmas, but didn't get around to reading it until a few months later. However, I read it all in one day.

I didn't cry, but only because I was around a whole lot of people and it would have seemed strange. It really makes you think about how important all of your actions are and solidified, at least to me, that everything happens for a reason.

I got my roommate to read it and she's not a reader at all, but she loved it as well.
