Fearless series #1- The girl born without the fear gene!

Welcome to the first thread dedicated to the Fearless book series by Francine Pascal.

From Wikipedia:

Set in New York City, Fearless tells the story of 17-year-old Gaia Moore, a girl born without the fear gene. The final book in the series was published in November 2004. Books 1-31 are available in both the British and American covers but 32-36 are only available in American ones. There are 36 books in the series, though two additional "super editions" give extra information about the past and present of the series.

If you love these books as much as I do, I'll add you to the list!

I'll be fixing this post up soon!

Ooh, Fearless was great. I never finished out the series, so one of these days, I need to pick up the last five or six books that I never read, but I really enjoyed the series overall, especially the early books with Gaia and Ed's friendship and all the Tom Moore/Loki related drama.

So yeah, if there's a list, add me.

Ooo I'm so glad there's someone who reads the series!

I'm gonna try to get everyone I can to read them.

I made it through all 36 books and I read the first Fearless FBI.

Hey, I was a huge fan of the Fearless series. A friend of mine got me started and I read the first twenty or so books before I stopped. They got a little dark and twisted for me. It seemed like everyone was bad and I started thinking that Gaia needed a little break. But I loved the books. I even have a dog named Gaia because that was the series I was reading around the time we got her.

That's awesome!

The books did get weird at the end. I assume you're referring to the whole Chris storyline. It was very weird and unnecessary. I loved how the series ended though.

Yeah, I mean, she's already had all these men in her life betray her, or supposedly betray her, and then suddenly there's this other guy that she has feelings for that's doing it too. I just got really confused because so much was going on at the end. I may read them again someday since it would probably only take me a couple of hours to finish each book now, but I don't really want to go out and spend the money to buy them right now. I'll check out my library and see if they have them.

You should definitely re-read at least the first one. I'm pretty sure I have them all, but I think I might be missing one I loaned out and never got back.

Ah yes, I've had that happen before with many books, which is why I no longer loan out books. Just a policy I have. But maybe sometime this upcoming semester I'll read some when I have free time but not enough to read a big novel.

Ooh, interesting casting choices. I'm especially fond of Ian Somerholder as Josh. I can definitely see him fitting that part. And Drew Fuller's a nice choice for Jake - I can even see myself maybe liking him if DF played him. I think the books overall would be hard to cast, though, especially Gaia, because I have such a definitive picture of her in my mind.

Incidentially, I finally picked up the last 6 books and finished off the series. SPOILERS FOR THE FINAL BOOKS AHEAD!

Overall, I liked the final arc. Skyler was creeeepy, especially in whichever book it was that he started to full-on isolate Gaia and do stuff like convince her to take baths in front of him. Creepy! The books where Gaia couldn't feel fear were overall kinda 'meh' to me; I get why it needed to happen for plot reasons, but Gaia changed so much when she lost the fearlessness that it was like we were suddenly following a completely different, and much less interesting, heroine.

Once she started to snap out of it, though, and the Rodkes' plotting and twisted family dynamics started to come to light, things really picked up, especially in the last book, which was an awesome finale. I wish there'd been one last reappearance by Tom, but the final book worked well enough without him, I guess. It just would have been nice to have some more resolution to Gaia and Tom's relationship. I wasn't very fond of Jake, so I wasn't too broken up that he got killed, and I mostly just felt for Gaia having to deal with losing another person close to her. My favorite parts of the last book were probably the final stuff with Oliver and the goodbye scene between Gaia and Ed, which was just awesome and heartbreaking at the same time.

I'm not sure how interested I am in Fearless FBI, but I may try to pick those up at some point, especially since there are only four and they look like quick reads.

I like your casting choices, Susan. Maybe if they had done the original show instead of the FBI years it actually would have happened. But, nope, they didn't. Oh well, maybe one day we'll get a Fearless show.

I know right? He is so freaking perfect, but I wonder if they would have to change his name, because anyone who read the books would figure out what his big secret is and I think it's one of the most shocking of the entire series. Would be SO COOL to see on screen.

Thanks for the support everyone! I really wish they would redo this series...the right way.

I hated that whole arc with that weird family. It just seemed way too out there, even for Fearless.
