| Favorite creature/animal characters Hey guys, I was wondering... who are your favorite animal or creatures characters? My favorite is Narknon the hunting-cat from my favorite book, The Blue Sword by Robin McKinnley. That cat is so funny, and I love how it attatches itself to certain people. My favorite part with Narknon: "What is that?" he said, pointing at Narknon, who still had not moved. "She's a hunting-cat, a foltza. She adopted me soon after...I left here." Narknon, deeming the moment right, stood up slowly, and opened her big green eyes to their fullest extent, batted the long golden lashes once or twice at Jack, and began to pace toward him, while he gamely held his ground. Narknon paused a step away and started to purr, and Jack laughed uncertainly; whereupon the cat took the last step and rubbed her cheek against the back of his hand. Jack, with the look of a man who throws dice with the devil, petted her and Narknon redoubled the purr. "I think I'm being courted," said Jack. ![]() __________________ It's those who are overlooked by the folk around them that you want to watch. | Black Beauty and Ginger from the book Black Beauty. I always felt so sorry for Ginger, having to deal with such rough treatment. Black Beauty had a better beginning and a better temperment. I was glad that he got such a happy ending as opposed to an even rougher life. Gabrielle | |||

| I love animal and creature characters! McKinley is always great with animal characters. I also like Anne Bishop's Kindred characters; Anne McCaffrey's dragons, firelizards, Barque cats, and coonies; Ursula K. Le Guin's Otak; the rabbits of Watership Down; Tolkien's Shadowfax and the Eagles; Lackey's Companions; and so many more. | |||

| I don't generally like anthropormorphized animal characters. I LOVED Watership Down, though. Especially Fiver. Except the book gave me nightmares about Nazis. I didn't pick up the paralells concsiously, but my subconscious was all over it. __________________ "When the wolves come out of the walls, it's all over." "What's all over?" "It." | |||

| I was never a big fan of animal books. I used to avoid books that had horses on the cover at all cost. But I love Curious George. Does he count? And I used to love the series Animorphs. I know they're not technically animals, but well, they morphed them. __________________ + Susan "Everything I've touched has been diminished." | |||
