We had a discussion thread but it hadn't been posted on in a long time; it was only pruned a few days ago.

Anyway. It's my favorite book of all time and I've read it more than I can count. Humor, adventure, magic, romance, a likeable heroine, good villains ...

I'm not very excited for the movie, though. Sounds like they're changing just about everything. I saw a copy of "Ella Enchanted" with Anne Hathaway on the cover the other day; it annoyed me for some reason. She was wearing what looked like some kind of genie outfit with big billowy pants and it overall just didn't look like Ella Enchanted.

I'm not at all excited about the movie. I've read this thing from fanfiction.net that told everything that happens in the movie and it's terrible. Have you seen the trailer? I can give you a link (that is, if you haven't eaten much bleh). I saw the new book cover on bookcrossing and I thought it was pretty sad. It's way too modernized... I complain way too much... This was my first favorite book I think it was probably my first "love story" as well! I loved the story! My copy's a little burnt out though, I think it's time for a new one

Awesome Cinderella "spin-off" if you will! But not a rip off! GREAT STORY!

Mine's quite worn around the edges. I was going to buy a new copy, but they were like $8 and I decided to wait, now the only ones I can find are the movie covers.

I read it last winter. I thought it was good. I mean, it was sort of predictable, but it's a well-known story, so what can you do?

I love this book. I read it whenever I'm down or bored or just feel like reading it, so I was disappointed when I heard they were making it into a movie, but I knew I had to see it anyway. And I did.

It's not a bad movie, it's just not "Ella Enchanted." The plot's changed, the characters have changed, and Anne Hathaway keeps playing book roles I'd KILL for. Anyway, it's not that it's not good, it's just that if you're expecting the book you'll be disappointed.

Ella Enchanted is one of my favorite books of all time! I've read it over 20 times and I still love it! The movie really did not do the book the justice it deserved. The movie was not even the book. The plot totally changed. It just used the original characters and plot as a setting for it. I wish that they'd stuck to the book. It would have been a great movie if they did!
