Even though The Giver movie will be a bit different than the book, I think I'm gonna read it before I see it.

I try to. I even do it for television shows. I was about to watch the first episode ofOutlander, but then I realized it's based on a book series. I promptly added the ebook to my library list. I'll catch up with it after I finish the first book.
Books give you so much more detail and background than film. __________________

They do.
I try to too. It also depends. TV series, if I haven't read the series I usually don't bother. Especially since for the most part the tv show is so much different. __________________

That's true, but I try to read the book of a TV series, because I am always interested in where the story came from originally.

Depending on what it is, I try. But if I don't get to it before I watch the show I usually don't bother.

When it comes to movies, I don't always have to read the book before going to the cinema. I mean, it's a totally different experience, imo, reading a book and imagining people and places the way you want them to be, rather than just watching a movie. Some movies are marvellous, though, but it often happens to be the book that I prefer over them.

So it all depends on the movie, but usually I've read the book first. __________________

It's not a requirement, but I find that I enjoy the movie more if I haven't read the book first due to the fact that it annoys me when they change details of a book for the movie. So when I read a book after the movie, I enjoy the book more ... but that's just me

I don't mind spoilers. It may even increase my desire to read the book, because I'm trying to figure out the "how" the story reached its ending.

Before I read the Twilight series I actually looked up each book and read the main plot lines, so I pretty much knew what was going to happen in each book.
