Absolutely. If I don't have one, sometimes I'll go into a bookstore and buy one. Or a magazine at least. I always need something to read.

Same!! I love reading books in the car or on the airplane.

And if I'm reading a good book, I'll bring it everywhere with me so I can read it every spare second I have!

I can't read in the car for some reason, but I'm fine on buses and in planes. I don't know what it is about cars though but it makes me really nauseous. I don't take really long car rides anymore though, I always fly, so that makes things easier, but when I was a kid my parents bought me a small TV that I could watch (before the days of DVD players and even DVDs) on long trips. Now I just take my laptop or my iPod and sleep.

Me too. Keeps my mind busy during boredom.

I'm dog and house sitting for the next few days and I have several books with me. I've only been doing it for a day and am pretty far into one book so I may actually finish a couple of them since I have until Wednesday to do so. I do a lot during the day but in the evenings I just kind of sit around since I'm a night owl and don't go to sleep until late. If I know I'm sleeping somewhere I always take a book for that very reason.

I have the book that I'm currently reading in my purse and I take it everywhere. When I'm going on vacation I take more than 1 book just in case I finish one.

I think I answered on the previous thread but just in case - yes, I try to keep a book with me at all times. They help when I get stuck in long lines at the bank, grocery store, where ever. I'll have at least 3 books with me whenever I travel by plane, even if it is only for a weekend trip.

Several months ago Andy Rooney's bit at the end of 60 Minutes was about whether or not people carried books with them. He found that more than 50% of the people interviewed did. Some were strictly work or school related, but a good percentage had books for entertainment. IIRC, most people said they read during their long commutes and lunch breaks.

Lately I have. I bring it to work all the time since it can get pretty dead where I work.

I always take a book when I travel, I take books to my spouse's bike races, and now I listen to books every day while I'm out walking.

I've never been into books on tape but, funny story, when I was in gym in middle school, I think it was 6th grade, we would have free days in gym where we could play some sporting event or walk around the track. I'd walk around the track with a book, since it was just a simple curve I could handle it but everyone thought I was totally out of my mind. I didn't care though, it was easy for me and made the 50 minutes speed by.

I swear the first thing I think about when I pack to go away for awhile is 'what books to take?'. No matter what I'm doing or where I'm going, I'll always need a book to read...even if it's for a few minutes. I can't go places without books!

Taking a book everywhere is protection from boredom and stupid people.

I always have books with me - usually two, in case I finish one of them.

I read everywhere I can. I also take books with me when I go away for holiday with friends, just in case it's raining and we sit inside, you know?

I carry books even with me when I'm going out with friends because on the way to and back I have time to read, although it doesn't always work when I go back.
