I thought the whole ideals coming from and being believed by the dauntless about Al jumping into the chasm being brave and Tris' ideas about that, etc. I thought it was a very powerful thing to have in the book.

That's a good theory. With Tris going to Amity at the end of the book and them having access to the farms beyond the gates, I think we'll find out then what lurks outside.

I assume so, because Tris and company were headed to Amity headquarters at the end of Divergent.

Yeah, they had reason to believe that Amity would take them in, so I think they will act as a neutral third party.

VR answered fan questions on Twitter yesterday about Divergent. Something interesting was that when she first started writing this story, it was from Four's perspective. And she named Tobias partly after her favorite Animorphs character.
