A Child Called It

What did you think of this sad, sad book. I wanted to create a post for anyone who has read it. I wanted to have a little discussion on the book so somebody start by telling everyone what they thought was the most important part of the book.

it was a great book, i read it for school, and i thought it was really touching especially for the fact that it took place right near my house. I have read the other two books and they are also great and heart renching. He was also on Oprah talking about his story. I would tell everyone to read this book.

I haven't read this, but my sister read this book a couple of years ago. It was really sad. He was on Oprah talking about it and it kind of made me cry.

Does he have any new memoirs in the works?

He wrote two other books that followed a A Child Call It, and the last one deals with him growing up and him older and how he reconnects with people from his family.

I read this last year when I was writing a research paper on child abuse. It was a bit too real for me, which I guess could be seen as a good thing. It's a very good book for first-hand knowledge about child abuse, but I don't think I could handle reading it again.

I read all three, as well. Sad, powerful, well-written. Especially since it was real life.

I think they are written by: Dave Pelzer. My mum has them all. I read the first one, it was great but a bit too much for me.

i did read this book. Last year when i went through what i now call my "depressing, sad books". This was on of them.I think i cried about ever 10 pages. It's beautifully written though and i can say i did love reading this book even though sometimes i felt i had to put it down and go back to it later. I finished it in a week cause it was just hard to read at some parts but just so good. My friend read every book of this collection. I didn't. I have been meaning too. Are the rest good?

"The Lost Boy" is good. "A Man Called Dave" seems to me to get preachy.

Great Book!

Hey !

I did read this book and it was really sad. The mother was horrible. I only read the first part, A Child Called It. So what happens to his mother later on? I always wanted to know.

Does he still have a relationship with his family now? I will try to get a hold of those books soon.
