| I haven't read too many Canadian authors yet, but I have a bunch of books by Canadian science fiction and fantasy authors like James Alan Gardner, Robert J. Sawyer, Alison Sinclair, Guy Gavriel Kay, Charles deLint, and Margaret Atwood. The two Canadian authors I've really liked a lot are Julie E. Czerneda and Tanya Huff. And then there's William Gibson, who was born in the US but has lived in Vancouver for many years now. | |||

| My favourite has to be Lucy Maud Montgomery because it's one of the first authors that made me discover the wonderful world of literature through her Anne series. Another favourite author of mine would be Margaret Atwood. I remember that her novel, The Blind Assassin was really a powerful reading for me, and I've discovered her work later, always amazed by her writing and her storytelling skills. __________________ The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast : the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed' | |||

| William Gibson is the man. Aside from him, I'm not really into Canadian writers, to be honest; more established writers like Atwood and Montgomery, or more recent ones like Yann Martel, don't do it for me. __________________ "Perception is reality." unknown | |||

| Fan Forum's Finest ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Canadian Book Apprecation Thread I just thought that it would be fun to open a thread where Canadian readers could come and talk. We can share opinions on certain books and authors, and maybe find some new author/series/book to read. We could give each other suggests, which I'm going to start with. Don't mind my spelling, its terrible to start with. These are the main authors/series that I read right now. I just got into reading for fun about 3 or so yrs ago, back in grade 9 Anne Rice ~ The Vampire Chronicles Frank Herbert ~ Dune J.R.R Toilkein ~ The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings J.K Rowling ~ Harry Potter Alias Books Enterprise/Star Trek books __________________ ♥ Pirates of the Caribbean Campaign ♥

| Lucy Maud Montgomery - The Anne series, the Emily series, Pat of Silver Bush & its sequel, etc... I've read every single one of her novels and almost all of her short story collections. There's just something about LMM's work that I just love. __________________ | |||

| As far as 'literary' writers, I don't care for Atwood or Laurence. Alice Munro is extremely good. My favorite 'fun' writers are Huff and Baker, both of whom are excellent horror writers. Kay is also good. I like some of Sawyer's work; he has interesting ideas, but I find his characterizations lacking. ![]() ![]() __________________ The Universal Friendship League?
