Can't believe this is my first time in this thread. I just finished the book the other night. I'm kinda happy this was the last one. I don't know how it could be topped. It was just so amazing. I would've been happy to just have Bella become a vampire at the very end, but the fact that we got hundreds of pages of her being one was so beyond my expectations.

I also enjoyed the happy ending, even though it was wrapped up nicely. To be honest, had it been all angst and long and "oh woe is me" I would have hated it a lot more......... when she becomes a vampire its perfect because suddenly she takes the form she was meant to be born it, so to speak.
so Katlyn, Sarah, Angel (&Sher me thinks) i also felt that there was more than enough angst within the first 3 books, and i was so happy to see bella live her life with edward. very often in "romance" movies or books, the story ends with "off into the sunset" (which would have taken on a whole new meaning here ), but i always want to see how the couple fairs after the happily ever after.

SM gave her characters a chance to grow within a new relationship, and a new existence. that is something all married couples must do, and when a child is added to the mix the relationship must change and grow yet again.

so i agree, getting to see their life after bella's transformation was exactly what i was hoping for in the way of an ending. in fact, if the book would have ended right when bella transforms i would have been big time

sher, i haven't started it again.....i'm going away toward the end of the week, so i'll have plenty of uninterrupted time to read

and prepare my notes for the edward-fest

I feel like I forgot things. So I just need to read them all together. Those of you who did that were very smart.

I fiished BD the day after it was released, i just couldn't put it down. I have to say, it annoys me how people can't stop bashing it, i just don't understand how they can so fiercely say they hated it... but of course that's my personal opinion, and who am i to say people have to enjoy it?

There were some parts that definitely left a bittersweet feeling, and i'm still not sure i love the whole pregnancy debacle, but overral, it was great, i genuilly loved it. For me, it wasn't a disappointment at all... Yeah, sure, there wasn't a big fight scene in the end, but that's normal, Stephenie Meyer doesn't write action books, she writes romance and drama, so i don't think that's a negative aspect. We got what we signed up for: Romance.

I know this is more complicated than the simplistic view i'm writing but still, i think this last book was exacly that: the last installment of a saga, and we got the happy ending. There was someting that i really loved about the book: Stephenie Meyer didn't just fill it in with everything and everyone she could remember just because it was the last book. And she didn't kill her characters ramdomly just becaue it was the last book. And that's something i really, really appreciate.

Of course there were things i disliked, but i can't hate this book... it ended just like i wished it would, and really, what more can i ask for? I'm at peace with it.
Now, there was something that really, really bothered me... Renesmee? Renesmee??? Uh, seriousy? RENESMEE??? That's just wrong... the poor kid doesn't deserve this... I'm not a fan of Jacob-the-dog but even i prefer Nessie to Renesmee Carlie...

Just finished BD very well written and love the plots same as the other books....I felt that the way that it ended with the Volturi needs to be expanded, like they need to have another book to finish it up because one day there will be a confrontation again...also with the whole Jacob and Renesmee situation...I hope in the next couple of years Stephenie will decide that another book is in order to really tie that situation to a close...other than that can't wait until the m ovie comes out and for more of Stephenie's books

So I'm a total nerd, but I love every minute of it. I've honestly never heard of Twilight until this time last week. I picked up the first book late last Monday night, and I just finished BD. I was totally addicted to this story. My husband laughed at me b/c I was completely consumed for a whole week. I can't help but feel that the story of Bella and Edward is one of the greatest love stories of all times. In at least my mind. I loved the happy ending. It was perfect. Honestly, I would read a whole other 4 books of the Cullens new life. It's so entertaining!

Yeah, I was the same way. I had no idea what it was, checked out the Twilight thread one day, saw the word vampires, thought it might be interesting, bought the first one and well, here I am today, ha.

I was a bit dissapointed that there was so much preparing for a fight and all that when basically nothing happened with the Volturi, besides Jane "attacking his [Edward's] wife", y'know?

Don't get me wrong, I still love it and all that, what with Bella becoming a vampire and Jacob's POV, but I don't think it's my favorite one of the series even though I had expected it to be.

To me though, it made perfect sense. The Volturi have been in power for centuries, and they didn't get there and stay there by jumping into stupid fights. They were outnumbered and their best weapons were rendered worthless by Bella's shield. It makes perfect sense that they would walk away from it all, especially when there really wasn't a reason for them to attack the other vampires and the wolfs at all. I thought that part was very well written. I mean, OK, so the Volturi attack knowing the fight is going to be hopeless, not very likely.
