Betty and I provide random overload

Hey Jule How are you dear? What a pretty icon!

Val, I laughed outloud and woke up Jamie when I read the lochness monster line. I'd already thought of it when she said it

I could use an Edward gush fest Betty! I would be the guest of honour unless Edward could make it I'm sad the series is over too but I'm excited to read things from Edward's point of view and looking forward to it. I found Midnight Sun fascinating!

You are so right Betty. You're opening my eyes here woman, giving me a whole new appreciation for Emmett and Rose and what each might need/be capable of. Rose is of little use to the Volturi with no extra talents although based on how Bella describes her beauty maybe she could gather up the people to feed them

Hell yeah! FTMFW!

and i was even more anxious for the development of their sex life given the fact that edward was devastated that he had "hurt" bella while making love to her!!!!!!! practice makes perfect though and the fact that she had to be careful with him initially after her transformation was very cute
I guess perhaps because I'm out of the age demographic I wanted the series to mature and the sex life was central to that in my head. I enjoyed the set up to the honeymoon night but would have liked more detail. I'm not a voyeur or anything but I truly enjoy reading how Bella thinks and feels. And Edward is so friggen perfect who wouldn't want to hear about his skills as a lover And in my defense, as a fanfic writer I was given the nickname the queen of smex so my head thinks in juicy details

i could never be Switzerland!!!! edward and bella is the only way i wanted to see this end!
Me either Betty. I'm not the least bit remotely unbiased. Edward and Bella together for eternity was the only ending I wanted and would have been satisfied with.

(damn no more smileys!!!!!) and sher...........zac......elle shoot........can't you see it???? "styled" like that i could very well picture him as edward......thudding again!

bye girls----hugging
My sincerest apologies for making you late love I am nothing if not passionate about this series and I know I tend to ramble on. I can definitely see it Betty!!! That is what started me on this series, Jule wanted a Zac!pire story and recommended the series after a discussion of how Zac could play Edward (if he had black hair I think )

I didn't picture it as rough so much as uber passionate rendering them completely unaware of their surroundings

the second time they made love after her dream, it was sweet, mostly because it kind of solidified in bella's mind that edward did want her as much as she wanted him. haha.. and who else thought it was hilarious that bella doesn't noticed two bitten pillows or a smashed up headboard?! apparently, edward is better than we imagined..
If I let my mind wander in the direction of Edwards abilities it wanders very far. After all, Bella always said he did everything easily, why should being the perfect lover be any different

with all of bella's insecurities, no matter how many times edward tells her otherwise.. her freaking out in the bathroom was just priceless!! it was perfect!
I must need to reread!! I can't place the freak out you refer to!

i think i might have been disappointed a little if bella and jake ended up together in the end, but i wouldn't have been devastated.. it just makes sense that she ends up with edward.. that's the whole point of twilight.. a human teenage girl falls in love with a vampire.. it's not.. she falls in love with a vampire.. but ends up with a "shape shifter". but i still love me some jake.. especially in BD because he was more matured..
I love your logic! I do love how SM matured Jacob's character. I think I'd have had real trouble with him if he hadn't matured. Getting into his head and understanding that Bella marrying Edward, even before she was turned, was the end of any chance he had with Bella made me care more for him. He was always so stubborn and sure that Bella would come to him. I worried he might carry on with that attitude even after she was married.

I've been trying to pinpoint exactly what it was that had me a little disappointed with BD. I think Catherine has hit the nail on the head for me - all gains no sacrifice. It's too unreal.
At first I thought it was a reflection of the human condition - want something bad and then when you get it, you don't want it.
I found the honeymoon, pregnancy and imprinting a little twee. It all felt like a very long way to tie up loose ends. The magic that I felt with Twilight and NM just wasn't there for me. I didn't need it to be an angst-fest, but it was all too Moonlighting (that'll date me!) for me.

I'm glad it is resolved but felt maybe it was more like a 400 pg book than 750odd.

And renesmee? Why didn't somebody somewhere say something before that got into print!! I mean seriously! It's is so teen-mum to make a name that is just not a name. But then I guess Bella is one.
Aside - no prob with teen mums, anyone any age can be a good mum, but they are more "creative' with names.

I was just expecting a little more magic...

You still haven't said thank you that I introduced you to the Twilight series. Just kidding of course. I'm still waiting for my Vampire!Zac story.

I know it's a 'young adult' novel, but a tiny bit more detail would have been awesome. I mean Jacob said stuff like: "He has been in her", so why not show some of it. NOt in a pornographic kinda way, just some love making.

Oh, I just noticed you talked about you 'discovering' the awesomeness that is Twilight.

Jacob was awesome in BD. I would have married him , but yet I've always been a Jacob fan, but of course I wasn't delusional and knew Bella'd end up with Edward. I was just concerned about my J., but I kinda liked the fact that he imprinted on Nessie.

the maturity of the sex i thought was ok. she did write for a specific demographic, but i wasn't expecting much more than what she gave us. plus edward is total fantasy material, so it's good baby, in my opinion!

I'm happy to see there are still a few people out there who really enjoyed the book. Because I did and I definitely thought the same way you did Betty. I got surprised a hell lot of times, but I think that comes with the fact that I didn't read one spoiler before.

Betty likes Jacob!

I stayed away from spoilers too Jule, even the movie ones. I just wanted to finish the series on my own terms, if that makes sense. Truthfully I think SM was in an impossible position because she had to know she couldn't please everyone. And yet, I don't think she swayed from the original ideals of the series.

And my geekiness loved all the science fiction in BD. I'm sure it probably turned some off but I thought it enhanced the story a great deal

I was just expecting a little more magic...

For me, the name Renesmee made perfect sense. For ages, Bella was worried about how to combine her human and vampire lives once she became a vampire. She was worried about how she was going to behave as a newborn and that she wouldn't be able to see Renee or Charlie, but here, Nessie was the exact physical representation of those fears being unconfirmed. She was human and vampire and was perfect. Renesmee was great because it showed her ties to both worlds.

I also enjoyed the happy ending, even though it was wrapped up nicely. To be honest, had it been all angsty and long and "oh woe is me" I would have hated it a lot more, but the past three books were Bella being angsty, saying Edward doesn't deserve her, being afraid about becoming a vampire. Edward said it himself, Bella's brain is on a different wavelength, she took to being a vampire perfectly so suddenly this life that isn't all that great (Charlie and Renee getting divorced, her being hurt by James, Edward leaving her for a time, being hunted by the other vampires, etc) becomes perfect because suddenly she takes the form she was meant to be born it, so to speak. It's a horrible comparison but think of transgendered individuals who are born as men but are only happy when they become women or vice versa, Bella was born a human but was meant to be a vampire.

OK, I don't think Jacob imprinting on Nessie was nasty at all. After all, right now he's a big brother to her, it's not like he's thinking sexual, even Edward said that at the end. And in six and a half years when she's matured, he'll still be a 17 year old werewolf, younger than Bella even, and as long as he keeps changing he'll stay immortal just like her. I think it's great, I mean, it's like Edward and Bella all over again. Nessie has someone in her life that is totally devoted to her, heart and soul, and Jacob's a nice guy. I'm happy for them both.

All in all, I thought it was a good book. Sure, it had its cliche moments, but what book doesn't? Overall, a good read in my opinion.

I finally finished reading it!
I loved all of it, even the parts that fit a little too well.
It certainly had me so entranced that I couldn't put it down!

I was actually shocked that I liked Jacob this book as well, even though he imprinted on Renesmee. I thought that it just seemed to fit with the whole storyline throughout the books.
