Pretty Little Liars #2: These 'perfect' girls are 'wanted' for their 'wicked' secrets!

In the exclusive Philadelphia suburb of Rosewood, Alison is the Queen Bee of her elite seventh grade hive. BFs Aria, Hanna, Spencer, and Emily vie for her attention, even as each of them hides a hideous secret only Alison knows. So when Alison goes missing after a slumber party, never to be seen again, each girl is heartbroken, but also a little relieved. Now it is three years later, and though the four girls have grown apart, they are each still hiding something. Artsy Aria is carrying on an affair with one of her teachers, fashionista Hanna shoplifts to accessorize her trendy outfits, blue-blood Spencer is sleeping with her older sister’s boyfriend, while straight-A Emily is trying to ignore her attraction to a new female classmate. When the girls begin receiving threatening text messages and emails that from someone known only as "A," they must confront the fact that against all odds, it appears Alison is back. Could Alison still be alive? And if so, why is she so determined to uncover all their dirty little secrets?

'Pretty Little Liars': Four new books on the way, starting in July

Author Sara Shepard will add four new books to her Pretty Little Liars series, starting with a July 2011 release, EW has learned exclusively. The new books — from Alloy Entertainment and HarperCollins — will bring the total in the series to 12. Though the number was originally capped at eight, the ABC Family show based on the young-adult mystery series — which follows the aftermath of a popular girl’s disappearance — has been a ratings success and renewed interest in the books. The first new installment, Twisted, will be on sale July 5; Shepard’s The Lying Game was just released.
I'm going to add more stuff to the OP later.

Me neither! I hope Spencer and Andrew are still together.

Has anyone read her Lying Game series? ABC Family picked it up as a series. The book description already sounded like PLL and I want to read it. If the show is going to be anything like PLL, it's going to be good.

I'm interested to see also. Hopefully she doesn't try and make it like the show and just does what she did before. I don't want things to change too much.

The Lying Game by Sara Shepard #1: "A riveting new series about secrets, lies, and killer consequences."

A mistreated foster girl learns that she has an identical twin living a privileged, popular girl's life not far away -- then discovers Sutton's been secretly murdered. Assuming her identity, Emma is soon living a life of luxury, but is being threatened by her twin's killer. Soon, she starts suspecting everyone in her twin's prank-playing clique, including Sutton's own younger sister. The book is narrated by the dead Sutton, who admits she is the "trickiest member of The Lying Game by far."-source
"I can only say so much about this book. I loved it!!, let's say it's my guilty pleasure and just focus on the last word. It really was a pleasure for me read thru this book. The story was captivating since I always appreciate a good mystery. I started this book and couldn't stop reading, actually I finished it in one afternoon.
We follow Emma a foster teen who has been struggling all of her life for a normal family and her long-lost twin sister Sutton who got everything Emma could only dream. One day Emma sees a disturbing online video and discovers some horrible secrets in her sister's life, just then, she knows it's up to her to find out who killed Sutton. I liked having Sutton as a ghostly presence narrating the story.
If you are looking for a really light mystery book, this is it. A great start for Sara Shepard new series that left me holding my breath for the next book. Overall The Lying Game has just the right amount of suspense and you won't know who to trust."-Booknerds are pretty too.

"The whole book is narrated by the ghost of Sutton. Problem is, even ghosty Sutton doesn't remember what happened to her. This really helped to give this book a unique voice that I really enjoyed. Emma's character was great. She grew up in the foster care system, so getting thrown into the life of Sutton, and her seemingly loving family, was a new experience for her, and it was a lot of fun to see how she felt.
There were moments that would be a little too unbelievable for me and pull me out of the story for a minute, but it didn't take long to pull me back in. While the whole situation is, of course, really out there, Sara did a good job of making it come to life. There were just small moments that I would scream at the character about how she could have proven who she was, etc.
Overall, this was a super quick and fun read. I loved that it kept me guessing from the beginning. Actually, I'm still guessing since this is only the start to the series, and we still haven't discovered what really happened. I've never read Pretty Little Liars, but this book makes me want to go get the first one and see how they compare!"-Reading Angel

"I was absolutely addicted to the television show Pretty Little Liars this past summer. So,when I heard the author of the book series the show was based on had a new YA series in the works, I quickly added the new title to my “must read list.” The Lying Game does not disappoint. It is filled with just the right amount of suspense, teen angst, and awesome clothes* that teens are sure to love. Sara Sheperd’s latest series follows down on her luck Emma. Emma’s life in her foster home is unbearable. So when she finds out she may have a long lost twin sister who lives in luxury with her wealthy family, she is overjoyed. After Sara agrees to meet her lookalike Sutton, she is thrown into a plot largely revolving around lies, a twisted game played by Sutton and her friends, and mistaken identity. Sheperd deftly tackles issues such as wealth, foster care and peer pressure with ease. I’m glad that readers get to see events unfold through the eyes of both working class Emma and privileged Sutton, because it lends perspective to Sutton’s Lavish lifestyle. Sara Shepard’s masterful ability to create a suspenseful landscape filled with mystery and paranoia will make even the most seasoned reader of YA mystery and suspense jump in his or her seat. The Lying Game left me wanting to know more. What happened to Sutton? How is Emma’s life going to change? Guess I’ll just have to wait for the next book in the series to find out!"-Mandy (From GoodReads.com)
