Book's Off Topic Thread #4

Hey everyone,
So I thought I'd open a second thread since the first one is past 300 posts. Here's the link to the Old Thread if anyone wants to take a look and catch up on some of the stuff we've been talking about. If anyone has any catchy titles for the thread as well just let me know and I'll add one of them. Anyway, hope everything is going well for anyone. Talk to you later.

Catching up from the old thread. I'm my mom's only child too and my dad's children are young enough to be my own kids. I was lucky that when my parents split up, my grandparents lived across the street, so I spent a lot of time with them while my mom worked overtime. I have a lot of cousins and one of them is like a brother to me because he's an only child too. We still have a lot in common and hang out together.

My obsessions lately have been knitting, buying dolls (60's and 70's Barbie and I'm saving for Japanese dolls like Pullip and Blythe now) and making clothes for them, going to garage sales and flea markets, and watching Miami Vice. I remember watching Miami Vice when it first aired at my dad's because his wife then was a Florida cop so it was her favorite show. I don't remember it too well now so when I saw it was starting from the beginning, I decided to watch it again.

I finally got my first (and second, and ordered my third and fourth) Pullip doll last month and I'm in love. I've been busy making clothes for her and now I'm setting up a dollhouse. I only have one regular sized doll and one mini (and the other two I ordered are minis too). It's nice to finally be creative again and have the time to craft without feeling guilty because it's cutting into moving-related stuff. I've also been taking pictures of my doll and learning about the camera. I always wanted to do photography and now I have an excellent camera.

My house is almost all set, but the yard is still pretty scary. Here's a visitor to the yard before it got overgrown with weeds, grass, and wildflowers.

Aww, it's cute. Is that a squirrel? That sounds like fun, Soz. I used to have this great doll house when I was a kid but when we moved it got packed away because the house we moved into was too small. I'd kind of forgotten about it but I used to spend hours with it, basically setting everything up, then taking everything out and doing it again. And that's great about making clothes. I can barely sew on a button so I don't think I'd be any good at it but best of luck to you. I got a new camera recently myself and I've been using it nonstop here in London. I still have five weeks left but I've taken around 300 pictures so far, and then I'm heading to Germany so I'm sure there will be even more then. Glad you're enjoying your camera.

Awww how cute, is that a badger?

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was ok, we had a crazy party last night, and I'm still not recovered!

My weekend was good. I did a lot of London touristy things and my room mate was gone so I'll admit, I kind of liked that. I went to the Queen's Birthday and got some great pictures and it was a wonderful celebration. I also went to the London Zoo and then on Sunday I went to Hampton Court Palace where Henry the VIII lived. I have a link to my travel blog in my signature so if you want to see some of the pictures you can check them out there.

I am fascinated with the Henry VIII time period and such. I am weird about that. I loved The Other Boleyn Girl although it was completely fictional,

It's thundering here, I am such a wuss about it. I keep screaming! My kids couldn't care less.

I love thunder storms. I haven't heard a single one in London. I wonder if they even have them here. I'm not at all sure. I watched the Other Boleyn Girl movie but I haven't read the book yet. I tried to read another, The Queen's Fool I think it was, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it a shot someday since I did like the movie. I love the Tudor period. Going to the castle made me want to learn even more.

Thanks, the picture is of a groundhog/woodchuck. They are everywhere here and I almost got run over by one while I was out walking the other day.

My spouse and I decided to build our own bookcase and dollhouse rather than buying two over-priced bookcases. Now we just need to borrow the power tools. I have all of my furniture and accessories in a box waiting for their new home. I have a few little dollhouses too and I had them at my mom's, so I checked them out over the weekend. One is in terrible shape, but I brought another one here, and the third is one my mom and I built together from a kit. I'll bring that one here too when I figure out where to put it.

Angel, enjoy London and Germany. I'm so envious. We are saving for a trip to Europe now that we bought a house, but it will be several years before we can afford a trip and we still aren't sure where we want to go. Or actually, we want to go all over Europe so we have to narrow it down.

It's been thunder storming a lot here and it seems like every time I plan to work in the yard or give my cat a bath, it storms all day long. It was supposed to storm today, but so far, it has just rained with no thunder.

Hey Everyone!

Angel: oh wow you were in London? One of my friends was there this summer and he fell in love with the city. I want to go there one day.

yeah I know what you mean.

I would love to do a whole tour of the UK in general. It would be awesome.

Oh and Amy Lee, how far into Twilight are you. Did you just start or are you almost ready for the next book? Are you going to do all the books one after another or spacing it? You are going to do a Twilight marathon of reading aren't you?

Hey,
Yeah, I spent six weeks there and then two weeks in Germany and Austria, I just got home two weeks ago. It was great, so much fun. I studied a lot of Charles Dickens and modern novelists. It was fun.
