Any genre I would go with my two 3 favorite UF

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. First books is Darkfever

Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews. First book: Magic Bites
Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs First book: Moon Called. With that one there's another series in that world: Alpha and Omega. Both series share some characters and same events. If you read both series alot of stuff makes more sense. That one starts off with a short story by the same name. If you are interested I would have to look and see if there's a reading order to read the books of both series in order.

If you are going to read the Fever series I would start with her Highlander series first. They are romance, but certain characters and events turn up in the fever books. You still understand the Fever books but reading Highlander books first gives you more information.

The Highlander books doesn't really connect to the Fever books until the 3rd one. The second one is my least favorite, although the first two has a connection.

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett I couldn’t put down

If you like epic Sci-Fi I recommend the Red Rising saga by Pierce Brown.

Red Rising.
Golden Son
Morning Star
Iron Gold
Dark Age

and Light Bringer comes out in a week and a half.
