"Okay, I have just a little bit of news. My book BLOOD CANTICLE will come out in the fall. I'll be on the road. I'll probably be in New York, maybe Dallas, maybe Los Angeles, maybe Miami. I hope to see a lot of you then. BLOOD CANTICLE, as I've told you, is probably the last time that I'll write about Lestat and his cohorts. It's the last time I'll write about the witches. It's my farewell novel and you can tell just by reading it, you won't have to [be told] by me that it's my farewell novel. I am moving on to other things. I no longer want to write from the point of view of the outcast. At least not the kind of outcasts that the vampires and the witches were. Maybe I'm going to pursue a different kind of outcast."

Interview With The Vampire - Yep. It was aright, it meant i stayed with the series at least but was dull for long periods
The Vampire Lestat - Liked it, made me fall in love with lestat
Queen Of The Damned - One of my faves. Becuase it was broken up there were no long boring bits
The Tale Of The Body Thief - Another one of my faves, Lestat at his best and worst
Memnoch The Devil _ Like the theology more than the staory, but still very good
The Vampire Armand - Good yarn, not too many boring bits.
Merrick - Half read....bit of a snore.
Blood And Gold - I liked this but there were some dull bits...not too many though.
Blackwood Farm - One of my absolute faves and i hadn't even rea the mayfair witches yet!

The New Tales Of The Vampires
Pandora - Yep. I loved this.
Vittorio The Vampire - Not yet! I'm busy reading the mayfair witches!

I have read all of them including the Mayfair witches and unlike other people I liked all of them. My favorite would be Queen of the Damned though.

Hey everyone.

I just began to read the Vampire Chronicles. So far I've only read the first three books. IWTV got my attention so I continued and read The Vampire Lestat and that got me hooked. I only just finished reading Queen of the Damned and thought it was really good. Hopefully I'll have time to get The Tale of the Body Thief sometime soon.

My favorite characters so far are Luis, Lestat, and Marius.

I'm about to watch Queen of the Damned and see how it is.

I've become interested in reading some Anne Rice. Which of the two series listed here are better? Can someone give me a brief summary of the two? Thanks

Well, the Vampire chronicles are the originals and the best in most peoples opinions. They are pretty much they stories and adventures of a group of about 7 (don't qoute me, and the number grows) vampires centred mainly on the vampire Lestat, who is one of the best characters in writing
The New Tales include the story of Pandora (who is one of the group i mentioned, kinda) and a completely unrelated story of the vampire Vittorio (i haven't read it, but i've been told it's completely seperate).
I hope you get around to them!

I started out loving the Ann Rice novels but toward the end...not so much.

The Vampire Chronicles:
Interview With The Vampire: Loved this one. Great read.
The Vampire Lestat: Another good one could hardly wait to get my hands on the next.
Queen Of The Damned: Best of the three absolutely loved this one.
The Tale Of The Body Theif: Still with the love.
Memnoch The Devil: Love faltering here.
The Vampire Armand: Bored me.
Merrick: Picked up a little but still not nearly as good as the first ones.
Blood And Gold: Have not read. Not sure I will.
Blackwood Farm: I might get this one just because of the Mayfair witch tie in.

The New Tales Of The Vampires
Pandora: Actually this one was fairly decent.
Vittorio The Vampire: Extremely boring.

I have read all the Lasher/Taltos/MW books which I enjoyed greatly; but actually my very favorite Ann Rice book is her mummy book. I have been so disappointed she has not done a sequel.

I'm a huge fan of the The Vampire Chronicles, i have all of them expect Blood and Gold and Blackwood Farm.

I have read most of the Mayfair Witches Books, so Merrick was a nice cross between Both worlds.

I haven't got Blood and Gold and Blackwood Farm yet. I haven't read them yet either.

But to be quiet honest, i find her New tales of the vampires lacking in something, but i can't really judge until i have read the most recent ones.
