Alright, I finished my 50th book for 2007 today. I do plan on starting early for 2008 because I'm setting a harder goal for myself but I figure than anytime after Christmas is ok. A few days more doesn't matter, but if you, say, start in November counting books towards your 2008 goal, that sounds a little fishy to me. So, here's what I read in 2007:

1. The Monk by Matthew Lewis (386)
2. Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe (252)
3. Sula by Toni Morrison (174)
4. Wicked by Gregory Maguire (406)
5. The Clone Republic by Steven L. Kent (384)
6. The Sheik by E.M. Hull (296)
7. The Goblin Wood by Hilari Bell (371)
8. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn (348)
9. Her Majesty's Wizard by Christopher Stasheff (352)
10. Brokeback Mountain "Story to Screenplay" by Annie Proulx (151)
11. Nightlife by Rob Thurman (339)
12. The 47 Ronin Story by John Allyn (240)
13. March by Geraldine Brooks (273)
14. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling (309)
15. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (341)
16. Druids by Morgan Llywelyn (400)
17. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling (435)
18. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling (734)
19. Moonshine by Rob Thurman (338)
20. Casino Royale by Ian Fleming (213)
21. Lord of the Dead by Rom Holland (324)
22. Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson (413)
23. Across the Nightengale Floor by Lian Hearn (287)
24. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling (652)
25. Maximum Ride: School's Out Forever by James Patterson (409)
26. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling (652)
27. Maximum Ride: Saving the World... by James Patterson (405)
28. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling (759)
29. Grass for his Pillow by Lian Hearn (315)
30. Way of the Wolf by E.E. Knight (380)
31. Genghis: Birth of an Empire by Conn Iggulden (378)
32. The Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner (459)
33. The Virginian by Owen Wister (323)
34. O Pioneers! by Willa Cather (159)
35. Recursion by Tony Ballantyne (406)
36. Green Hills of Africa by Earnest Hemingway (295)
37. Endgame by Samuel Becket (84)
38. The Birthday Boys by Beryl Bainbridge (189)
39. Choice of the Cat by E.E. Knight (334)
40. Oroonoko by Aphra Behn (77)
41. Terra Incognita by Sara Wheeler (334)
42. Path of Fate by Diana Pharaoh Francis (369)
43. The Awakening by Kate Chopin (190)
44. Herland by Charlotte Perkins-Gilman (146)
45. Cast in Shadows by Michelle Sagara (507)
46. Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie (211)
47. Crossover by Joel Shepherd (457)
48. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (498)
49. American Shaolin by Matthew Polly (361)
50. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (189)

That gives me a grand total of 17,412 pages.
My goal for next year is a page goal; to read a grand total of 25,000 pages. To break that down I'd need to read 50 books with 500 pages or more in one year. So, let's see if I can do that, or at least break my page record for last year.

These are my final books of the year:
32. Baby by Kirsten Thorup (243)
33. The Nanny Diaries by Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin (320)
34. Shopaholic Abroad by Sophie Kinsella (329)

And that gives me a total of 10180 pages. I would have liked to reach the 50 books, but I've been very busy with school. I haven't read a book in months before these ones, so I figure that's why I didn't reach the goal. I'm very satisfied with the total of pages though, that was more than I had expected. I am definitely going to give it a try next year as well

Thanks. I'm getting a slow start for 2008 though, which, like I said, is beginning a few days early for me. But, so far I haven't finished anything. I was hoping to read three or four books before heading back to school. I don't know if that's going to happen now.

I know what you mean! I had planned on reading a lot more over the break, but I've just been so busy with other things. Oh well. I'm planning on getting off to full speed on January 1st.

I'm going to fall short this year, but it's soooo close unlike last year. I'm on my 45th book (Wicked by Gregory Maguire) but not sure if I'll finish before the year is up.

I read 15 more books this year then last. I'm very impressed with myself, I know I could have made my goal and probably then some but there was two times this year that I got into a reading slump.

I'm starting my list for 2008 2 days early because I know that I can't get 5 more read in that amount of time.

44. Bet Me – Jennifer Crusie
45. Death Note v. 12 : Finis – Tsugumi Ohba
46. The Thirteenth Tale – Diane Setterfield
47. Creation in Death – J. D. Robb
48. Blood Dreams – Kay Hooper

I'm hoping to get another one finished before I go out tonight. If not, I started the list in September, listing what I could remember for the year. I know there are some ones I didn't remember, in addition to ones that I just didn't bother counting. I'm looking forward to starting a new list for 2008 and seeing how far I get.

Congratulations to everyone who made their goals and good luck to those who will be starting the challenge for 2008!
