I read 36 out of 30 last year, but this is dissertation year so I'm setting my goal lower.

Not really going to set a challenge for myself, it's 19 days in to 2017 already and I've only completed one book that I started before Christmas. Sigh.
1. Ann Veronica (1909) - H.G. Wells 3/5 I kind of hated Ann Veronica and Capes by the end, but it wasn't bad. A lot of the ideas Wells introduces here about women are still relevant today, and also about what it means to grow up. 2. The Sorrows of Young Werther (1774) - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe 3/5 It always strikes me when I read books written a long time ago how the world around us might change but essentially, people are exactly the same. Werther talking about his coworkers trying to advance in their careers and putting more effort into that than their actual work could apply to any office in the world. Highly recommended. 3. The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Other Tales of Terror (1886) - Robert Louis Stevenson 4/5 This book was published exactly 100 years before I was born. It is fab. The other short stories - The Body Snatcher and Olalla were really good too. The Body Snatcher in particular, because it introduced me to the true story of Burke and Hare, which I didn't really know before. I also love how influential Jekyll and Hyde was when Jack the Ripper was roaming the streets of London a few years later. Definitely a doctor, in my opinion.
