Matt takes a big risk in order to be rid of Sylar; Noah asks Tracy to help a boy who's had similar experiences to Tracy; Claire and Gretchen go through hazing, but they've got other problems facing them.

So far, Claire is kicking butt. Smart and kick butt. And it seems like they're going for Claire/Gretchen.

I'll just copy what I put on the Heroes board:

- Claire/Gretchen Their scenes were alright but I do feel, especially as this was technically the 'Halloween' episode, that this was very cliched and hyped for ratings. Not just the potential 'relationship' but the whole hazing scenario. It was like a teen-horror movie. I like Claire and Gretchen, but as a couple I feel it's becoming very forced. The hand-cutting from before I bought, because the chemistry was natural. In this episode the writers were obviously thinking up situations where they had to be intimate. I'll see how it goes, but I think the writers should do better and think up some less cliched situations. Though, I did appreciate Claire wanting to keep Gretchen as her friend regardless of what happens. I think Gretchen could be a good friend for Claire, and I like her character.

And I guess a part of me is becoming frustrated with how isolated she is from everyone else, mainly so the writers can play off this relationship to get better ratings. It annoys me that they're using my fave character in that way. I'm trying to remain objective but it was hard to remain so in parts.

I don't know if I agree that they're angling for better ratings with the lesbian storyline. Based on this episode, it looks like they're somewhat committed otherwise they would have had Claire say "not in that way." They managed to stay non-committal. I don't know how I feel about that. I'm not a fan of the couple but I might be okay with the way it's playing out.

I liked the episode for Claire. She got to be kick ass (Buffy!--hee.) Nice to see she learned some lessons from HRG. And she was smart in recognizing that someone was after Gretchen. I didn't expect the reveal to happen so soon about the other sorority girl's power so that was surprising.

Oookay, so I guess Gretchen was off having a personality transplant last week. Retchen Gretchen has had 7 boyfriends and a couple girlfriends, and a load of sex? Um, no. I didn't buy Claire's reaction to Gretchen either, one kiss and suddenly she doesn't know if she likes Gretchen in "that way"? I feel like they're trying to be too idealistic and all "The sex of the person doesn't matter!" which would be all well and good except it usually doesn't work like that in real life, lol.

Loved the Buffy reference, hee. And the "little help here?" bit. Although I had to laugh at her being all "Open locker 24" and had Gretchen do it. Open it yourself!

ETA: Wth, I just read the ep discussion thread on TWoP, these people usually hate Claire, but everyone's liking how Claire/Gretchen is being written?! The writers have finally written something that make Claire haters like her... but the Claire fans don't. Good job

That's what I was thinking! It's just so...odd. Bad writing. I mean I don't mind that she's not as crazy and obsessive as before at all, but yeah.

I also wonder how she'll deal with the other sorority girls. Will she send the Haitian Sensation in or let them know? Is this gonna be Claire making her own clique of people that know about her power?

Gretchen is suddenly this omnisexual being that can teach Claire things?

I don't even think fans of the character are going to like that!

TV writers always do this, we have never seen Claire question her sexuality before, & suddenly she's "not sure"!

It's just like with West, stalking, invading her privacy, then everything is alright once they reveal their secret.

I don't so much have an issue with her not having any gayness in her before lol, I mean, she is only 18.. and there are plenty of people who never have sexual feelings towards the same sex until they meet someone in particular who kinda makes them realize it. But my issue is that she doesn't even seem to be questioning herself or her feelings, or even really acknowledging that hey, if I feelings for her I must be kinda gay

she's just like.. eh, I don't wanna complicate things, as if it's like no big deal, heh. When in reality it should be completely confusing for her if she actually is attracted to Gretchen.

I guess I appreciate that they're trying to show that sexuality isn't a huge issue, but I just don't find it realistic. It would make my life a whole lot easier if I could just kiss any hot straight girl I wanted and she'd be into it

Reading through TWoP though, not one person mentioned thinking that Gretchen having been around the block was weird. Surely we can't have been the only ones to think it

Does anyone else think that they decided to make Gretchen bisexual instead of gay, because it's a "bone" they are throwing to the fans who prefer heterosexual Claire? Like "well if she's bi well then she's open to a threesome with Peter"?

No one is going to buy that!

I think it was more that.. they thought it would be easier to have her be bisexual because it makes it less scary for Claire, I guess? Like.. she's had guys and girls, so I can too

Well I loved this episode.
Claire channeling her inner Buffy was awesome

and altough it's a bit weird that Gretchen suddenly became a nicer, more normal person, I didn't mind it much & loved her scenes with Claire.

But even after all that I still (really) want Claire to meet the carnival, or at least discover that Nathan is dead so they better deliver it.
