FW: I first became familiar with Leighton Meester from her work in the film Country Strong, just around the time I was finishing the first draft of Like Sunday, Like Rain. Leighton has such poise and grace, but also a certain vulnerability that escapes through her eyes.

When we met for the first time, I knew the moment I sat down across from her that she was Eleanor. We talked for hours about the script and it occurred to me that she knew more about the character and her world than I did. It was immediately clear to me that she understood the nature and makeup of this character. There was never anyone else.

I like that people know and expect her to be a great actress now rather than snarking about her being good for a CW actress.
