Leighton Meester - Gossip Girl Season One Discussion: Because it's time for the GG rewatch, yay!

Gossip Girl has been a turning point in Leighton's career when it premiered in late September of 2007. Due to the writer's strike, the show is currently off-air, but that doesn't stop us from dicussing the months of amazing episodes that started her amazing show. Here you can discuss everything in season one.

This thread is for all Leighton fans to discuss the season. So we do have a few rules;

+ Please keep the discussion on topic, this thread should only be about the season one episodes. Keep in mind, this is the Leighton season one discussion thread, and the main focus should be on Leighton/Blair, as the show has it's own board. But obviously, talk is not limited to only Blair.
+ This thread is for all Leighton fans, regardless of who they ship. Therefore absolutely no bashing is allowed.
+ To furthur the rules on bashing, this means no rough insulting of another ship (for instance, Chuck/Blair or Nate/Blair). Keep it to positive discussions.
+ Try to have wide discussions about the episodes, if you just want to discuss a certain Leighton/Blair related ship, then visit that thread. This thread is for general season one discussion.

S E A S O N . O N E . O V E R V I E W;

The first season of Gossip Girl made its official debut on CTV in Canada on September 18, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. while The CW, the original broadcast network of the show, aired the pilot a day later on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. eastern/8:00 p.m. central.

The season has mostly revolved around Dan and Serena's relationships and the problems that occur, considering that Dan is against the glitz and glamour of the Upper East Side and is smitten with a girl that runs that part of town. Also, Nate and Blair's on-again off-again relationship.The complicated love triangle of best friends Nate and Chuck both vying for the affection of Blair Waldorf begins mid season. Eventually, Nate wins, and Blair and her 'Chuck fling' is over. Chuck says he is over Blair, but when her world goes crashing down, Serena is the only one she can turn to. Nate leaves her, but she still has feelings for him. Subplots include the romance between Serena's mother Lily and Dan's father Rufus, and Dan's younger sister Jenny trying to make it among the popular kids, as well as Serena's brother Eric's stay in a treatment center on his mother's orders.

S E A S O N . O N E . R E W A T C H;

Due to the writer's strike, Gossip Girl is no longer showing new episodes. However, there will be a rewatch starting January 28. The old episodes in their entirety will be shown on Gossip Girl's new night: Monday. The first episode, "Pilot" will be shown during "Gossip Girl Revealed" and will have the entire episode, hosted by the cast of Gossip Girl and will have bonus features. Whether or not the following episodes will be "Revealed" is uncertain.

And to make it fun, we'll have this thread open throughout the entire rewatch so we can discuss the episodes as we see them, as well as the whole season. Tune in starting Monday to see the episodes all over again and take part in the Gossip Girl Rewatch.

I loved Blair from the Pilot. You could see that she was the tough queen bee who didn't care what she said to people. But even early on in the Pilot you could see there was more to Blair, she had another side to her that she only let close friends see. To the rest of the UESiders she was mean and always happy. But behind closed doors she let her true feelings out.

I agree. Blair is by far the most complex character on the show, she has many layers and that's what makes her such an interesting character.

I'm excited for Gossip Girl Revealed. I hope we get some good stuff.

I don't think CTV will be airing it though, which is too bad.

aw, that sucks, I'm sure it will be put online somewhere though.

I'm pretty excited for the Revealed, I hope we get some cute Leighton stuff, and for the rewatch because it's been so long since I've seen some of those episodes.

I hope someone puts the Revealed on YouTube or somewhere else since I can't see it.

I loved Blair the first moment she appeared on screen (or should I say on my computer screen

). The scene at the Met steps sealed the deal for me and she has been my favourite ever since. I remember seeing someone using an animated icon of Blair (where she sort of pops her head) from the scene at the Met steps in the pilot. I didn't know anything about the show but the icon intrigued me and when I saw that scene, I was like 'that's the girl from that icon!'

Blair got me hooked straight away. I didn't watch the show for Leighton as I didn't really know who she was untill GG. I started watching it as I knew Kristen Bell was the voice over. Then I watched the first episode and imediatly loved Blair. She is a complex character and has shown us through each episode how much pain shes been hiding from the world and that shes grateful to have a best friend who is there for her.

So i rewatched the pilot. My CB heart could barely take it.

But Leighton/Blair rocked it. Blair right from the beginning is just soo heartbreaking i feel. she is so insecure that she feels that she needs to jump her boyfriend's bones just to keep him.

And then when Nate tells her about Serena oh Leighton totally brings it. Her tears were sooo amazing.

I was Team Blair just because she had every right to be a bitch. I just wish we could have seen Nate pay for it more.

CB eyesex at the end was fab.

I'm totally in the rewatch, saw the pilot last night. I love that ep, Leighton was so different in the beginning, she's really grown, but I loved her. Totally amazing. Blair is just all kinds of awesome.

The Revealed was kind of a let down for me though. It seemed overly promoted, like it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I was hoping for/expecting more interaction between the cast. Really it was just a couple deleted scenes, a few outtakes, and the character profiles. =[

I thought everything said on the "revealed" could have just been like said about after watching the pilot. Like there was nothing about how the story lines were progressing.

Ed mentioned falling for Blair, but after that nothing.

I didn't rewatch the pilot as Its not on UK screens yet but I can remember all those scenes.

Leighton did an amazing job introducing us to Blair's world. Started of as Blair the Queen B ruler of the UES but as we got further into the episode you got to see new sides of Blair. The insecure side that felt she had to sleep with her boyfriend to keep him. The betrayed and hurt side when Nate tells her about Serena. Leighton really let go Blairs tears and emotions in that scene were brilliant.

I was on Team Blair from the very first scene.

I didn't watch it (at least yet) because I don't live in the US but imo, Blair had every right to be a bitch. I remember that she got a lot of crap for being 'horrible' towards Serena but I thought Serena had it coming. They were best friends and she slept with her boyfriend. I don't support cheating so I understood were Blair was coming from. And not only that, but Serena left and didn't even keep in touch with Blair.
