I agree, a lot of actresses come off smug when they play bitchy characters. Leighton is great because she makes Blair likable and even though you disagree with her actions, you're still on her side.

Some actors do say that it's easy to play a crazy person because the character's actions are so much edgier. Pretty much anyone can shout. But even though Blair is an edgy character, she still has so much more going on. I guess I could see the point to call the role easy, if she would only be bitchy with no insecurities or feelings etc. But there's so much more to Blair than that.

I don't think thats fair at all to say that Leighton has the easiest job because she gets to play a bitch. Blair is such a complex character with many layers that tests Leighton's skills I think Leighton does a terrific job.

I love that Blair's Fashion sense got a mention she just fabulous and deserves it

Not only that, but in her more mellow scenes with Serena where she's having girl-to-girl talks or with her mother, she doesn't come off as corny or after-school-special. But she's still in character.

And she rocks the crying scenes as well.
