Post Count Thread #2 ~ getting to 20K, one post at a time!

It was new thread time so here it is.

I like how we've been discussing board traffic as opposed to just the standard well done etc.

Me too. It's nice to discuss different thoughts and ideas.

Thanks for the new thread, Karen.

I agree. It is a good discussion. Better than just the numbers for sure

Well, when the numbers aren't good, we have to do something to take our mind off of it - even if it's talk about why the numbers aren't good.

I really wish John would make better choices in his films, though I can understand why he made the choices he did in the last two - even if the projects weren't good. I hope that as John continues to mature as a celeb and an actor, that his choices also get better.

I think it's frustrating as a fan to see the potential and the variety of the actor yet you feel as though the right people aren't seeing what you see.

We need to get into the movie business and give John the roles he deserves.

Couldn't have said better, Karen.

I can understand his choices too. Movies with recognized actors, but I also wonder what kind of movie offers he's been receiving. Maybe those were the 'best' he's been offered, I don't know...

I'm hoping for a dramatic role next time.

I'd love a dramatic role for him.

I agree.

He's just starting out, so I think that will happen with time.

I'm hoping now that he has made a film where he was offered the role without an audition that more quality projects will be coming to him. Because again, I don't fault him for going with a Robin Williams comedy or a George Clooney vehicle. Those would seem like solid choices - and perhaps the scripts were better than what we actually saw. Having read some scripts and then seen the finished product, I've been surprised at how it came out (ex. Return to Me with David Duchovny).

So far none of the cast has been that great at choosing films that showcase the versatile and talented actors we know they are. Steve Carell is a fantastic comedian, but his choices since starting The Office have not been as stellar as those prior to it. It could also be a matter of scheduling. These were the best films available to them that could shoot during their specific hiatus.

I'd love to see John do a more edgy role or something completely different from Jim in a drama, though nothing TOO against type. I hope he has good people around him that are advising him on his next move. So far, his movie choices haven't hurt him as an actor or a star, but too many more and he'll end up just a one-note song and that would be too bad.

I would like to see John stretch himself into bigger roles in dramatic movies, or even working in guest starring roles in dramatic programs or mini-series. And I can understand why he'd sign on to work with Robin and George, even though he was pretty much the only things I liked about either of those movies.

I think that Steve has chosen a lot of diverse roles... Dan in Real Life, Little Miss Sunshine were both great movies. Granted, Evan Almighty was the best choice, but Get Smart was a a fun movie, and Steve was great in it.

But I do think a lot comes down to what they're able to do when they're on hiatus or what they can work into their filming schedule for the show.

I think Steve has done ok and has done some different type of roles which I have loved to see. It seems like Jenna, Rainn, and John have all struggled a bit though.

I agree with most of this. And I do amend my remarks some because I think that Steve has made the best choices as far as scripts AND box office go. But then I'd guess he probably gets about double the scripts sent to him than the other three since he was a name before he came to the show. However, some of his bigger budget things recently haven't really been as great as his independents.

I'd really hate for John, Jenna and Rainn to ... well, not necessarily be "typecast" as their characters on The Office, but to be written off as only television/Office actors. In each of the other projects I've seen those three in, they've done really well with the material they've been given (Jenna is phenomenal in the small role she has in "Blades of Glory"), but they just haven't had good scripts overall. I just don't want John to be known as the guy whose the best part of the crappy movies he's in.

I honestly couldn't have said it better myself. We know that he has amazing potential, and he could definitely be choosing better roles for his movies.

Jory, it comes from being a JVDB fan for years and feeling like all ya get is scraps. After seeing him as Dawson adn then in Rules of Attraction and in Criminal Minds which were the polar opposite, it makes you wonder, what's been offered?

Maybe John should do something as a guest star on a crimw show, playing the opposite fo Jim.

Yeah, I'd like to see John do something like that.

Here's the official post count for John in August.

John Krasinski (901 | 29.06)

We did pretty well!
