Cute, short interview in The Sporting News:
Quote:
Q&A with The Office star John Krasinski
John Krasinski, star of Leatherheads and NBC's The Office, dishes on hoopin' it up with George Clooney and more.

SN: So are you a big sports fan?
KRASINSKI: I am. I've become addicted to fantasy football. I always start out pretty good, like in the top 1, 2 or 3, and then end up 7, 8 or 9. I have much better luck with the brackets for college basketball.

SN: Oh, yeah? What's your secret?
KRASINSKI: I always go for the underdog. But in high school, my friend's little sister won $450, which was like a crazy amount then -- you'd think you could buy a house -- and she did it all based on people's uniforms. She won the whole thing. There were like 35 kids in it.

SN: You got a fat lip during filming of the basketball episode of The Office. Was that a freak accident or a pretty accurate reflection of your basketball skills?
KRASINSKI: Oh, my God. No, I think I'm pretty good. David Denman (who plays Roy) turned into me really quick. It's funny -- we have all of the footage of the blood pouring out of my mouth. We should have put it on the DVD or something, but we didn't want to scare people.

SN: So who won when you and George Clooney played one-on-one?
KRASINSKI:: You know that he did. It wasn't too bad, I was up for a while. I didn't know he was good at basketball. He asked me if I played, and I said, "I'm OK, I'm not great." My friends were like, "Haven't you ever read Vanity Fair? He plays like twice a day."

SN: Did you do anything special to get ready to play a running back in the movie?
KRASINSKI:: George told me back then the guys weren't that buff. So I did what I usually do, which is next to nothing. I worked out slightly -- just, if nothing else, to feel like an athlete.

SN: In its Leatherheads plot summary, IMBD.com tells us that "love and football have a surprisingly similar playbook, however, Dodge (Clooney's character) has one maneuver he will save just for the fourth quarter ... ." What, pray tell, might that maneuver be?
KRASINSKI:: I can't give it away. But it's good. It's an old-fashioned play (dramatic pause) in both love and football. Ohhh, shoot, look who's being poetic now. (Laughs.) You're like, "No, you're not, John."

SN: You're also a writer. Tell me how you would script the perfect ending to the most awesomely feel-good sports movie ever.
KRASINSKI:: You know, I would probably not even try ... because there's a movie called Hoosiers. That ended all my dreams of writing the perfect sports movie.

Apparently John has been named a Top 5 Bachelor Actor (but it doesn't say who ran the poll):
Quote:
John Mayer voted Hottest Celebrity Bachelor
Washington, April 11 (ANI): Singer John Mayer has landed the top spot in a new poll of Hot Celebrity Bachelors.

Following the Grammy Award winner in In Touch magazine list was Sex and The City hunk Jason Lewis, reports Contactmusic.

According to the poll, the third hot celebrity bachelor is Chace Crawford, best known for his role as Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl on The CW

Emile Hirsch, best known for his role in Into the Wild and The Girl Next Door, is fourth on the list.

Rounding off the top five was John Krasinski, most widely known for playing Jim Halpert on NBC’s The Office.

The top five Hot Celebrity Bachelors are:

1. John Mayer
2. Jason Lewis
3. Chace Crawford
4. Emile Hirsch
5. John Krasinski

Hmmm, I wonder where that came from. It's cool that four of my celebrity crushes made the list though!

Winnipeg Sun:

These guys are slight upgrades
By KEVIN WILLIAMSON

No paunches or back hair here, these are some of the more, shall we say, traditional-looking actors who could convincingly get the girl and make her laugh. You know, when Seth Rogen's unavailable.

John Krasinski: At 28, he's already one half of "Jam" -- otherwise known as Jim and Pam -- on TV's smartest show The Office. But his box-office clout remains uncertain after back-to-back flops License to Wed and Leatherheads. Then again, those really weren't his fault either.

Andy Samberg: This 29-year-old Saturday Night Live viral video star has already made the leap to the multiplex once. Unfortunately it was while strapped to the dud Hot Rod. Still, don't count Samberg out, especially if he decides to suppress his predilection for juvenile self-satisfaction.

Jim Sturgess: Currently Hollywood's It guy thanks to the Vegas-themed smash 21, this 26-year-old Brit has thus far proven his worth in dramas and musicals (ie: last fall's breakthrough Across the Universe) but there's nothing to suggest he can't cut it at comedy.

Justin Long: If he can outlast the memories of being the guy from the Mac ads, Long, 29, has enough stammering sweetness to play the romantic underdog.

Adam Brody: The sarcastic geek persona he patented from his heyday on The O.C. has served Brody, 26, well, but he'll need to show some range if he's ever convincingly carry a film -- or appeal to more than just chicks who lust after fan-boys. All three of them.

Just wanted to pop this back up as a stuck thread now that we have de-topped the "Leatherheads" thread. Updated the appearances calendar to take us to the end of April
