This week: Bitches

Ned: "For the record, I would make a horrible polygamist, I’m easily distracted, I wouldn’t know where to focus"

He's so cute

I adore the flashback in this one:

"Still, he wore hope on his head. What young Ned didn’t know was at that very moment, the girl he called Chuck was wearing hope on hers. They were together even if they were far apart."

And the last scene:

N: You're the only one for me.
C: I know you feel that now, but there are things you want. There are things we both want...
N: So? Everyone wants stuff, we wake up every day with a list of wishes and maybe we spend our lives trying to make those wishes come true, but just because we want them doesn’t mean we need them to be happy.
C: What do you need to be happy?
N: You.

Their final scene is my favourite. It's so sweet and romantic.

*grumbles at gone pictures*

------

The scene which I've ever so affectionately called "the thought hats"… The yearning love of two children who've been through so much…

Digby hiding in the case there… so cute!

And then off to the present we go and eep! What begins as hotness to rival all hotness turns into… WTH and then OMG!

This is one of my fave quotes from PD, all time:

Some women love like gangstas: it'd be like "Ooh, baby, you bleedin’, how that happen?" While they hiding a razor in their weave.

Oh Chi… you rock, man

Chuck and Olive's convo… budding friendship… and the whole 'you don't touch' bit

Hundin… Perfect name...

Duuudes… the coroner's smirk…

Joel McHale… I that man… And the way Harold is killed… That is just… it's terrible but it's hilarious!

Once again, our fearless leader unleashes the name scheme of dooom! Harold, Hillary, Heather, Hallie… and Simone

Scoobies united! Olive joins the team "for real"! (even though she's not getting paid A couple great quotes there…

Ain’t nobody making nothing for their polygamy cult.

And…

Chuck: I love a good "Although … "
Olive: Me, too …

So do I, girls… so do I And I love how eager Olive is to help.

Each of the group's attempts at undercover was chuckleworthy… From the adventures of Pimento and Pickle, to Mr. Digby & Ned, to Emerson trying to get D to cooperate, to Chuck's attempt at blindness which… well, that didn't work

Simone training Emerson to respond to the clicker… perfect

Emerson's dream was so trippy… And then him going all Hulk and getting free

Chuck + cowboy hat =

Emerson's plan… Ah, that was awesome The whole way it unfolded…

Dogs in funeral wear! Awesome!

Ned's dash… After the table dive he did in Pigeon, another great display of physicality...

They're in Stars Hollow! I recognized it right away, and squealed, and gave my mother further proof I was insane…

"Pentagonal union"…

So now the odd thing to think about is how in a way it's Olive's fault Snuppy was killed… for what she said to Hillary…

Emerson and Simone… oh the love… He seems to think so too

Ned & Chuck & Digby… the sweetness!

Olive only wants Ned to be happy… *hugs Olive* Come back Alfredo!!!!

What Ned needs to be happy - Chuck. What I need to be happy - a guy like that

I love that scene between Chuck and Ned at the end. When he says he doesn't feel good about tackling a woman half his size to the ground, and then Chuck tries to make him feel better by saying that he was the lion that rescued the baby zebra, or maybe the lion had the baby zebra in it's maw (I just adore Anna when she says "maw", it's too cute <3 ), and Ned was the crocodile that saved the zebra. And the he says he don't know what he feels about beeing teh crocoldile, but as long as the baby zebra got away he could live with it. And the Chuck just looks at him with a smile for a second before she says she's gonna hug Digby and pretend he's Ned. And the sadness that follows - it makes me both smile and want to cry at the same time *sigh*

Oh, and the previous discussion in the Piehole about Hallie being arrested, and more animal comparisons or whatever the proper word is. I love that whole scene

It's a really good episode, I think. It was the first one I really watched properly, and recorded. So I re-watched it three times, I think, during the week before next episode would air xD And I still discover things! Another thing I love about the show - no matter how many times you watch, you can still see new things

Yes ma'am

Looove this episode So much stuff happened here, some overtly, some covertly...

Little Ned here is just breaking my heart! And here we find out how he became a pie maker! And then holding the pie… *hugs Lil Ned*

The rolling pin bit… The look on Olive's face…

The genius of Kristin Chenoweth here…

Olive: Isn’t it great we can joke, now that we know that there’s nothing going on between us and never will! I’ll bet this sort of thing happens all the time between adults: mixed romantic messages. The next time we’ll be looking back and laugh until we wet the rug! Which we’ll then want to shampoo – a couple of times – possibly three depending on what we’ve been drinking!

And then…

Chuck's not gonna wear a bell!

I knew the girl who plays Anita looked familiar… then I figured it out - she was in Hairspray!

Loved the look on the gang's faces when Ned pulls the blanket back…

And wowzers on the makeup there for burnt Anita… with the pearly whites!

Dishevelled Ned is the cutest thing ever!

"Felicitations"… Hee!

The smell analysis of everyone… awesome!

Emerson: Your book was a bomb –
Napoleon LeNez: [insulted] Who are you to criticize my life’s work?
Emerson: [pointedly] Your book … was a bomb? It exploded?

I heart Chi *gushes*

Mermaid Olive… looove it!

Okay, right here is where the first inklings came on the matter of Lily's secret. The way she reacted to the sweater, how Vivian's voice changed when she said 'it was her mother's'… It didn't get solidified 'til the later scene…

Loved Ned jamming his hands under his legs when Chuck came to the table.

Oh my, this part still makes me roll around…

Chuck: Am I seriously the first person to question your aversion to change? What about your ex-girlfriends?
Ned: Emerson doesn’t want to hear about any of this.
Emerson: [perking up] I must admit, I am curious. Hell, before Dead Girl came along, I didn’t know what you liked, or if you liked or if you had anything to like with! For all I know, you coulda been one of those people who was born with both but didn’t use either!
Ned: I’ve had girlfriends, but there were always extraneous factors.
Emerson & Chuck: What kind of extraneous factors?
Ned: [stalling] Y’know … grew apart and lost interest … had intimate relations on a bearskin rug.
Chuck: Oh, no, did it – ? [makes clawing gestures with her hands]
Ned: It did enough to be upsetting.

Olive's wavy hand gesture… I hadn't noticed it 'til now... hee hee!

Emerson and his pop-up books…

Ned's ooooooh after Spielman mentions the lack of logic in him using a method of making a bomb that he published

Oscar Freaking Vibenius… looove you, you little weirdo

Ned catching the sock mid-throw from LeNez while Chuck and Emerson jumped back… he didn't even flinch

Lily's burp, and the whole lead up to it… When I watched it with my friend, she was cracking up for like five minutes

Following the yellow thick hose… not to mention the yellow tiled walls

"What is this, a police state?"… I gotta use that And Chuck's little whimper at not being allowed to go with Ned and Emerson… Awww!

Mermaid Olive #2… with the pictures…

Olive: No, no: we’re not at that stage of our friendship yet. Please don’t cry in front of me. Don’t do it, don’t you do it!
Chuck: [crying] I’m not going to!
Olive: You’d better not!
Chuck: I won’t! [beat; then breaks down and sobs]
Olive: You did it!

Awesome… They're so sweet together!

Loved Emerson just dropping into a plug for his business… and then snapping right back into the interview…

Oscar Vibenius: Hey, I’m just here for pie and conversation. Neither of which are cause to call a man a "bitch".

*snicker*

Olive: [waves her hand] Do me, do me! What do I smell like?
Oscar Vibenius: [draws back disdainfully] Dog.

Lil Chuck with the Jews for Cheeses shirt… And then the big scene… It tells so much if you look under the surface of things. Also, can I just say how good it was to get such a lovely aunts scene? I looove the aunts Swoosie and Ellen kicked the @$!@!@! out of this!

"You set Oscar up, after you figured the correct spacing." Hee hee…

This little jump here… awesome…

Chuck: Ned!
Ned: Chuck!
Napoleon: Oscar!
Oscar: Napoleon!

Olive: Hi, Emerson!
Emerson: Hey, Olive…

*giggles*

Ladies and Gents… Ellen Greene *bows down*

Emerson's "I love pop-up books…" was just awesome Also this… now we know it might be more…

The self-hugs! Awwww!

Okay, a little late but here I am. This episode is hilarious, LeNez soooo needs a reality check

Everyone is always talking about Paul Rubens, but I thought Christopher Sieber was absolutely brilliant as LeNez.

That said, let's get on with the quotes...

Ned: I like that we only serve traditional pies in The Pie Hole, not these hybrids.

Awkwardness hee.

Narrator: Anita Gray, 22 years, 11 weeks, 2 days, 9 hours old and 33 minutes old, was taking a private tutorial in olfactory science when she experienced an epiphany. And the epiphany was that her instructor, Napoleon LeNez, was a genius. It was an epiphany that Napoleon himself had experienced many, many years earlier.

Well isn't he humble?

Anita: I'm dreadfully sorry, this can't be good for your lungs.

Oh, poor thing

Narrator: ...immediately found themselves in an alarming situation...
LeNez: Do not be alarmed by this situation.

The look on Emerson's face when LeNez looks at him after saying "...and the musky waft of pheromones triggered by... "

Olive: You mean I can wear'em? You mean it? On my feet?
Aunt Lily: Unless you’re cursed with a sixth toe... You’re not, are you?

Chas Spielman: Pop-ups aren’t just for children. My pop-ups are designed for their original audience.
Ned: Perverts?

Chuck: I may be clean, but my mind is still in the gutter.
Ned: Dirty thoughts? Lascivious pinings?
Chuck: Oscar Vibenius.
Ned: Oh, that gutter.

Ned's so disappointed I like that they're so comfortable with each other... Clearly not the first time he's seen her wearing nothing but a towel .
We know Oscar heard at least a part of the conversation in that scene, and then Emerson talks a lot about Chuck being killed, so maybe Oscar heard that too? Although it doesn't seem so in Corpsicle.

Ned: Okay, if that happens, I’ll say something like "What is this, a police state?" If I ever say that it means I’m having a panic attack.

This scene is hilarious, Vivian doesn't realize at first there's no slide

And I was almost rolling on the floor laughing when the reporter leaves and winks at LeNez and mouths "call me"

LeNez: When I suggested you leave, I didn’t mean the penthouse. I meant this mortal coil.

LeNez: What’s that smell that’s filling up the chamber? An amalgamation of explosives of gases which will erupt on my mark. So please, if you’re in a hurry to die, fire your gun and set the chamber ablaze.

Perfect delivery of that line, hilarious.

I guess my only complaint is that Ned barely had any lines in this one! If Lee wasn't so expressive you'd barely know he was there.

*thinks* I think I already knew by then... I'm not sure All I remember is that I was looking at the bios for Ellen and Swoosie and suddenly it said "and she plays Chuck's mother, as it was discovered recently" or something like that and I was like %&//%!!!!

i don't mean to be crude at all, since this is intended to be silly, but when olive answers her door wearing the mermaid suit? that entire scene i always have to peek through my hands because i'm afraid kristen will just...fall out.

^she's definitely well-endowed

Love the recaps! One of my favorites in the episode is the whole "CHUD" references and then Emerson's comments in the sewer about Ned and Chuck getting eaten first or something like that

It's okay. I remember thinking that whoever made the outfit should have... taken that into consideration. I get that it's tv and all, but It was a bit much for my taste, especially for a show like PD.

You know, you reminded me of this interview with Lee and Anna where they talk about Kristin and suddenly Anna says something like "and she has amazing breasts!!" and Lee's like "seriously, she does"

is that the same interview where anna says how their tops get lower and lower as the season goes on? because it's kind of true, for both of them.

"seriously, she does." oh lee.....
