Jim Dale/Narrator Appreciation Thread #1

An Appreciation Thread for the wonderful actor who provides the narration for Pushing Daisies.

Jim Dale has won a Tony Award for his performance in Barnum and recently appeared on the Broadway stage in The Threepenny Opera with Alan Cumming, Ana Gasteyer, Cyndi Lauper and Nellie McKay. He has appeared in the British Carry On films. He also is the voice of the Harry Potter audiobooks.

Its so funny...I was in the car with my parents and they were listening to HP audio. I was like "I've heard that voice before... He must be an actor."

The premiere of PD was that previous week. So when I heard it again last week I was like "OMG!" I'm trying to get my parents to watch now.

He does such a fantastic job on the HP audio-books. I can't believe it took me half of the pilot episode to clue in that it was his voice. It bugged me to no end until finally I got it.

When I heard who the actor was I knew that I heard it somewhere before. Then it dawned on me that he was Mr. Peachum in The Threepenny Opera, I saw it over a year ago and it was amazing, and he was so funny!

There is a small clip here of him performing 'Humans Aren't Smart Enough' (his part is near the end, but he is interviewed throughout the clip)

Hehe.

He's soooo wonderful! My absolute favorite thing is when he does the ages down to the seconds. I *always* rewind and listen again. Ahhhh, so awesome.

The show wouldn't be the same without his magical narration.

I'm so glad Jim Dale got his own thread. He adds so much to the show.

It really wouldn't, he brings something new to the table. I love it.

I just rewatched the episode and I found this line so cute during the scene when the order man...or whatever he is, tells Olive to deliver the pies

"In her own way, Olive identified with the plight(??) of the abandoned pie. It was ment for someone who, without a little effort, would never be with the one it was ment to be with." I found that so adoreble. And so cute of Olive to think that :-)

I so agree!

His narration is so amazing that I wonder how they go about it.

Like, do they show runners tell him, "read this line this way." I wonder if he gets to see the episodes at all!
