| I wonder what the Season 8 Writers would have done differently if they could have read the fan boards of the future back in 2005. I was thinking about this today and thought it might make a good conversation ball to kick around. Knowing now what they should have known then, how would they change things? I like to imagine they would have changed things from the Down the Road Season 7 episode and let Jackie and Hyde get back together in a way that actually resolves some of their issues instead of it being purely physical attraction based on how wrong they are - that was the start of the betrayal of their relationship by the writers which they took to such ridiculous lengths in Season 8. So, say they let Jackie and Hyde learn something from their time apart instead of making it an exercise in futility by breaking them up again a few episodes later over the exact same issue, and end Season 7 with Jackie and Hyde either becoming engaged or agreeing to move in together. Then they just end "That 70's Show" right there because they have to acknowledge that without Ashton and Topher it just isn't the same show and these "kids" are too damn old to be living aimless lives in a basement they no longer have any claim to. So instead of beating a dead horse, they let everyone grow up and build a new show around Jackie and Hyde and the inevitable ups and downs that two such opposite yet similar people would have living together. Maybe they could call it "Beyond the 70s" or "Eighties is Enough". Then they bring in some new and fresh characters, not characters who are supposed to be composites of the old characters. Donna would not be a regular because she would be too busy at college to hang out there all the time - yes, I would release her from the small town drudgery her true character would never have settled for. Besides, if there's no Eric then that takes away most of Donna's justification for existence. She was always at her best when she was interacting with Eric. Fez should be phased out too - he'lll be far too busy serving time in prison for some act of sexual deviancy to hang around the new and improved show. No doubt in prison he will finally discover his true sexual persuasion - no "unwanted" man-love for Fez. And if the show was willing to face reality and build on its strengths, I'll bet Ashton would have been happy to come back and do some guest spots. After all, he signed on for the first 6 episodes, didn't he, so why couldn't they have spread those out throughout the season so there wasn't a big gaping hole when he left? Aaah, I feel better getting that off my chest. What are some other suggestions for saving the show? | |||

| i watch season 5 literally nonstop! i could never get sick of all the JH awesomeness that goes on in that season! i totally love all the JH scenes  | |||

| I've always hoped that season 8 was a huge burn on Forman. Eric comes back and haha, Donna's been dating, your parents are leaving, Kelso's gone to be a responsible Dad.
