Jackie and Hyde really could become the Red and Kitty for their friends' generation of kids. They'd be protective and compassionate. Because of their history of neglect and abandonment by their own parents, they'd probably be sensitive to the suffering (however great or small) of their own kids and their kids' friends.

Not that Eric and Donna wouldn't be compassionate, but I'm not sure they'd be as tuned-in as Jackie and Hyde to this kind of thing. ... Although Eric was quite aware of Hyde's bad homelife and did what he could, so maybe Eric would maintain and extend that awareness when he was older.

Maybe Hyde would tell his kids that if they ever had a problem they felt they couldn't tell him or Jackie that they should go to Forman, who helped Hyde out countless times. Of course, he'd reassure them they could go to him for anything -- but in case they felt like they couldn't, go to Forman.

Well parents can learn from their kids too Maybe Jackie's daughter will try to put some sense into her mom's head regarding some of her outdated views. Although i'm pretty sure that by the certain age Jackie would realize a lot of things herself. After all there's always been a lot of good influence around her. Hyde's in particular, of course. Red and Kitty's, too, and i guess down the line she met a lot of great people in her life.
It's a possibility that after her daughter's little lecture about some rights and some wrongs she would just roll her eyes and answer: Of course i know all of that.
The daughter: But you just showed total disrespect to aunt Donna and uncle Eric with that remark!
Jackie (shrugs): Just can't help the old habits.
Hyde (walking in): Yeah, your mother can't be held responsible for the things that come out from her mouth.

Yeah, I do think Jackie and Hyde would both learn a lot from their kid(s). Considering how much J/H learn from each other, makes sense that their kid(s) would continue that.

Daughter [to Hyde]: You did? Why?

Hyde [uncomfortable]: Uh ... well--

Jackie: Just tell her the truth, puddin'.

Hyde: I was usin' it as an insult 'cause Forman acted like ...

Daughter: A girl? So you think calling someone a girl is an insult?

Hyde: I did.

Daughter [upset]: Great.

Jackie [soothingly, to their daughter]: Honey, your father was a bit -- um ...

Hyde: I was a dumbass. Girls are strong as f--

Jackie: Steven.

Hyde: Strong. And freakin' brave and patient. They gotta be to put up with idiots like me.

Jackie [smiling]: That's right. But you're amazing, too. So don't put yourself down, either.

Hyde [to both Jackie and their daughter]: I'm sorry for ever makin' you feel like less 'cause of your gender. 'Cause you sure as hell aren't. Callin' Forman a girl back then was an insult to women. Should've just called him Forman. That would've been the right burn.

Daughter [to Jackie]: Mom, is that better?

Jackie: Yes, sweetie. It is.

I do like a more self-aware version of Hyde and Jackie. Not perfect, of course (that would be boring and unrealistic). But the potential to grow and change.
