He did take some teasing from his friends and sometimes it annoyed me. So what if Hyde finally found happiness?

I agree with you. As long as their teasing was occasional and not relentless, fine. But their friends seemed to tease/burn him at pivotal moments between him and Jackie.

Part of the reason for that, though -- writing-wise -- was for their friends to state or show explicitly the feelings Hyde won't.

I like to think as time went on the teasing would dye down, when they realized that Hyde was genuinely happy.
